New dipstick doesn't fit down tube

I bought a new dipstick and the solid tip does not fit around the tube curve. I thought it was the wrong one but the second one from a different vendor does not fit either. I am hoping I am missing something very obvious. OR

Does a brand new dip stick need to be modified (bend the tip) to get it through the curve of the tube and into the engine or bend the tube need to lessen the curve?

I read some posts on modifying the stock dip sticks by filing and drilling to get them in and out and able to read levels. Here are my thoughts on that day at the Mini factory engineering department.

Who's the new guy? That's the bosses nephew, he doesn't seem too bright. Ok, put him on dipstick design, there is no way anyone can screw up a flat piece of wire...

This is the one that everyone swears by. Seems shorter at the tip then yours

Mod the factory dip stick: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...stick-fix.html

That one you have looks wrong all together.
