R52 Cabrio Convertible Alarm problem

My wife had a problem with the horn going on and staying on until they burned out. Had the horns replaced, but now the alarm system does not work. Looked online for the location of the alarm siren. Everything I have found (via Vin) does not match up with our car. Had local mechanic check with Snap On analyzer. It did confirm the alarm is not working and is the only fault showing up.
2007 Mini Cooper S, Sidewalk package

If anyone can help, THANK YOU!

Assuming that you have the OEM alarm (not aftermarket)...

These are the installation instructions and has all the information about the alarm including wiring diagram.

The OEM alarm is installed by dealers after delivery and wouldn't be on a factory build list.
Do other options match up when you look up the VIN? http://bimmer.work/

Thanks for this info. Based on this info and checking my invoice from dealer we do not have a alarm system.

So what no longer works is: Push lock button on key fob twice, does not chirp.
Also I thought if the car was locked and top down, if you reached in to open the door the horn would sound.

Yes other options do match up on bimmer.work/

Does your turn signal stalk have a red cap at the end that flashes? The standard non-alarm stalk has a plain silver cap at the end. If it has the red cap, it is the OEM alarm.

A regular MINI without alarm system does not chirp, ever. The OEM alarm has an ultrasonic motion detector that triggers if you reach into the car. It seems like you have an alarm system (your turn signal stalk would confirm it). As for your invoice, the alarm could have been installed anytime after original delivery.

Thanks again.
Turn signal plain silver cap. We are original owners, took deliver from dealer.
Maybe we are just confused with the other car we had for everyday use.

Yep, it will have that little light that flashes at the end of the stalk.

More info on the factory R52 alarm here: https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...eft-alarm.html
