In 05 and 06, the 5 speed transmissions are strong and not prone to failure. Of course the 6 speed is premier!

There are a ton of 2015 R60 Countrymans for sale right now! I’ve been looking at them. One question I have is why so many have black crusty looking exhaust tips? Does the N18 engine run rich or what? Most of the CMS All4’s I’m looking at have less than 28,000 miles.

yeah the exhaust tips on our CM ALL4 are pretty much like that(my wifes primary car)
If I get another one I was looking for the base front wheel drive non-S as a 2nd car, but not sure I want another CM as a second veh since I can always get in the one we have.Leaning more towards a Cooper hardtop,if I don't feel its too small
Do you live in Jersey?

I’m in south central PA. I have a 2015 JCW Hatch and the B48 engine is stellar, just not quite ready to bite on a 2015 CMS All4 with the Prince N18 engine....probably ok but we might just keep our rock solid 2004 Jeep Liberty as the family car & what my wife drives. We like the Countryman though, especially the coffee color that was discontinued in 2016. That crusty look on the exhaust tips worries me.

should I even bother?
I wen to check out a 2013 Mini Cooper Base with 49000 miles on it
at the dealer we the the hood not opening issue. I wasn't aware of it being a common problem. didn't know if it was the cable or the latches, until I got home and searched it on here and found there are a lot of issues with it seeming to be the cable
Never the less I left without being able to look under the hood. Suppose to go back tomorrow because they were working on that today
I had planned of having a PPI on the vehicle, but that doesn't guarantee something unforeseen wont break tomorrow.but assuming that the water pump, thermostat housing, coils, timing belt tensioner among other things haven't had issues or been addressed yet, am I just looking for trouble with that many miles on it?

does the 121hp 1.6/ 4cyl on the 2013 Cooper Base require premium fuel also, even though its not a turbo? or is it?
I can't find anywhere that says its a turbo..dealer description/Carfax or vin
I looked at the engines for that year and the I4 with 121hp didn't say turbo. with that HP I wouldn't think it is
