Which to buy - 2011 Clubman or 2012 Countryman

Hi - new here. I'm trying to decide between two vehicles, priced within a couple hundred dollars of each other.

1. 2011 Clubman S, automatic transmission, 53,000 miles. Only options are the Convenience Package and the Harmon-Kardon stereo.
2. 2012 Countryman S All4, manual transmission, 104,000 miles. Options include pretty much everything; dual moonroof, Tech Package, Premium Package, Cold Weather Package (I live where we get snow).

Both appear to be in great condition inside and out, and Carfax looks clean on both and regular maintenance has been performed on both.

My concern with the Clubman is I've heard of issues with the automatic transmission. And I like driving stick better. But the low miles on that car are appealing.
The Countryman is pristine, has more features, and a more functional back seat, which would be nice to have. Also has the manual transmission. But the higher miles are concerning.

Which do you experienced Mini owners suggest I go with? Appreciate your help!

Lots of issues with original clutch on early Countryman. You should be reading those threads closely. Personally I wouldn't be buying a Countryman with 104,000 miles on it.

my spouse has a 2014 CMS with about 50k on it.

Clutch is going… but did not show until the factory maintenance expired of course. So we’re going to see how long we can make it last.

If you really like the Clubman, keep looking until you find the one you want. The automatic would turn me off, too. High miles on the Countryman...

Well, you all talked me out of the Countryman. And sadly, because I postponed my appointment with the dealer by a day, the Clubman was sold last night.

The search for the right one continues...

I am in the Denver area. Trying to stay in the $10-12k range.

There is nothing wrong with the Aisin automatic transmission. The troublesome MINI automatic is the CVT transmissions in the early first generation cars.
