It is able to find both OBD and proprietary BMW codes, so I suspect yes. Your code is probably one of the BMW ones.

No. New keys are only available from MINI who in turn has to order them from Germany (preprogrammed the VIN)

Bummer. I have heard you have to donate a kidney to have a dealership make one..

Think about it from a theft viewpoint. Would you want it easier for a thief to gain access to your car, or more difficult? I choose the more difficult path.

Certainly wouldn't want to make it easy to steal.

But I can go to Ace Hardware and get a chip key for my Ford Focus for under $100.

foxscanner virus

Hi All,

I bought the schwben tool from ECS. First impression was great, however, when I was trying to download the foxscanner software, my computer indicated it had a virus and would not let me download it.
Anyone else experience this?
I may return it if I cannot update to include other vehicles.
Help!

Have any of you ever used this to increase your idle rpm setting? Just curious. I see the option but have been hesitant to take the plunge. Mine is defaulted at 700 rpms and was considering bumping it up to 800.

It works for the R53, but as far as coding it will just recode some factory modules, not coding like changing factory setting for lights and such. Possible in the future with more update.

Never seen that, it should be fine, might be the protection software you have on your computer. Sometimes they block about anything you try to download.

I want to reprogram the locks and turn off the driving lights. Would that be possible?

Driving lights is full coding and lock full coding (for new keys) is a security thing and dealership done. Or if you are just wanting like "lock after driving" feature turned on that is a coding thing. Those are all full coding.

I just bought one and it came today Im going to try it out on my F56. I didnt have any issues with flags of viruses or malware, the software installed just fine. At first, however I was a bit confused. I had gone to the website directly and registered and tried to download the updates from the website. The links wont do anything. Then It dawned on me to download the scanner software first, and found it under the NT510 product page ( identical in looks to the Schwaben tool). Once I installed the FoxScan software I was able to login with my new account and get the software update.

i'm considering this one http://www.eobdtool.co.uk/wholesale/...m-scanner.html

anyone has experience of this Foxwell nt510?
I've got the same question as well. I mean the only differences from what I see is that the Schwaben is different colors and comes with a carrying case. I can definitely live with the "traffic cone orange" color if it means I save $50.00.

Per foxwell our Schwaben version has the higher level which includes:

Resets oil service light
Sets inspection 1, 2 service interval
Sets (non) long life oil service
Sets inspection mileage
Deactivates and re-activates brake control system
Retracts calipers for brake pad replacement
Returns calipers to the original position
Initializes the wear indicator if new pads installed

And is also the only BMW/MINI scan tool to come with all preloaded software:

Performs New battery registering
Resets oil service light
Sets inspection 1, 2 service interval
Sets (non) long life oil service
Sets inspection mileage
Deactivates and re-activates brake control system
Retracts calipers for brake pad replacement
Returns calipers to the original position
Initializes the wear indicator if new pads installed
Diagnoses EPB caliper functionality
Clear SRS system errors

Also, we will stand by our products and here to help as much as we can.

My personal safety is definitely worth more than $50.00 and is a bargain if we leave brake repair up to my guesswork. Saving up for one of these now! Thanks for the quick reply ECS Tuning!

Is there a listing of functionality for this tool with F56? Often times these tools do more for older generations and not so much for new. I think I asked this when you first started selling them and they didn't work well with the F's.

Maps the same as the R56 and above, now the F56 (newer BMW style LKM and main body control module) has a more complex test system so you will have more options there on the test list function when I hooked it up. That's what i could see, like access and test the Nav and camera function, which is good when down the road and you're out of warranty.

I thinks it's reverse when it comes to the R53 vs R56+. There is very limited functionality with Schwben scanner on the R53 compared to the newer model Mini's. It's a good tool, would have been nicer if it did more on the R53.
