Do Mini's look better with Stripes ?

So NAM members I want to know what you think;

Do Minis look better with stripes ? ? ?

As you can see in my posted photo, I have altered mine a bit.

Let me hear and see what you think.

I think that the stripe/s are what sets the MINI apart from other cars. On a MINI you expect to see them on from the factory. On other cars they seem like an after thought. I like yours, very unique.

I prefer to go strapless on my own MINI. I do really like the look of a pepper white and black MINI with black viper stripes.

rickwallace45 Apr 19, 2015 05:34 AM

I like what you've done!
I'm in the same boat - just took delivery on my stripeless (!) Pepper White MCS yesterday... trying to figger out the right mix of stripe-ology...

Yep Im in the same boat I pick my strapless mini up this week hopefully and trying to see what looks right not to over done and that keeps my personality in tack along with a mini history...

Absolutely....no question

yes

To me.....it all depends on the layout of the stripes. I really am not a huge fan of the "run of the mill" sport stripes but I do like the viper stripes. As for my MINI it will remain without stripes.

bavmotors Apr 20, 2015 02:27 PM

Some do some don't, depends on the color scheme

ECSTuning Apr 20, 2015 02:30 PM

Depends on the color (stripes and MINI color ) and type stripes but most do look better and it defines the MINI. You know it even if you don't really know the car brand coming down the road. :)

I've always considered any MINI on the lot incomplete without stripes. The real question is whether or not this includes rear (boot) stripes, since you rarely see classic Minis with boot stripes, even though bonnet stripes were common. I think boot stripes are the modern MINIs' legacy to the brand.

I don't think I could drive a MINI without boot and bonnet stripes, and I'd even go so far as to say I couldn't go without roof graphics (although that one is more dependent on the model and base colors, since JCWs look pretty good with their Chili Red roofs).

Yay stripes! Also, I bought my car used and it has a factory clear bra over the stripes, so removing them would be a huge headache.

I think Mini does well with the stripe theme over a lot of different other car manufactures. Kind of like how Mustang looks with the racing stripe too. Mini's pull them off well.

I think it's a matter of taste. I personally prefer them with stripes; I think it makes them look more complete somehow.

MiniKar, I do like how you've done them--it is different and very understated.

JABowders Apr 21, 2015 04:34 AM

Hmmmm... interesting question.

I would have to say... Some do, some don't.

Motor on!

whaap Apr 21, 2015 05:06 AM

yes. tradition

GoThingNC Apr 21, 2015 05:10 PM

I think the Mini looks naked without the Bonnet stripes plus they add at least 5HP😃

R56BrgMcs Apr 22, 2015 08:19 PM

Tradition says yes, I took mine off though, I like the way it looks.

I'm waiting on my mini to be built, but I chose to go with racing green body, white roof, and black body stripes. I was told at the dealership that almost everyone gets stripes and they are almost always the same color as the roof, so I feel a bit rebellious by going dark on dark body, but I think it just looks so refined. We'll see how it looks in person...

If you have an R53 or R52 Cooper S / JCW MINI has black hood stipes that are steeply discounted , Used to be like $80.00 a set ,,,,, Now $10.00 , the white ones sold out and are NLA. These are the solid stripe version.

Here's what I came up with to transform my pepper white MCS Moby...

Drumsound Oct 11, 2015 10:12 AM

I like stripes of some sort, but I don't hate a MINI without. I'm not fond of the wide hatch stripes, but the center like rckrazy1 and rickwallace45 have looks great to me. Mine had black with white outline bonnet stripes and I dig them. I'd have put something on if they weren't there. I had a painted stripe on my Miata, and it really set it apart from other Miatas, and I liked that.

I love the subtle stripes MiniKar put on the Pepper White!

Kathy1946 Oct 11, 2015 03:56 PM

I like your altered stripes.

My thoughts on decals and stripes can change pretty quickly, so a few years ago I ordered a black set and a white set of magnetic stripes. Any decals that I've liked I've glued to magnetic backs , cut to the exact size of the decal. For the decals I use magnetic sheets with signs on them that I buy at Target. I store everything that I don't use on a large metal sheet.
Depending on my mood, I can quickly make any change.

At this moment Minikins is bare and loving it.
Seeing your altered stripes has given me more thoughts now...
