MINI version of "Friends of BMW"
MINI version of "Friends of BMW"
Hi. This could have been discussed before or may be already implemented so please forgive me if it has.
The BMW CCA (Car Club of America) has a program in place called "Friends of BMW". It is a booklet that lists those members (by state, then city location) who offer anything from a willingness to be called to aid a member who is traveling through their hometown and needs help, to mechanical assistance, to shop space, to coffee and conversation, up to lodging, or anything else for that matter.
It is a great support idea and over the years I have used it for seeking restaurant suggestions, getting a member in a far-away state to drop by a car lot and check out a car for sale, to offering our own home and a meal to members competing in the "Car & Driver One Lap of America".
We lost a water pump in a 5 series I had bought in Connecticut a few years ago and on the way back to Mississippi were stranded in Allentown, PA and called a local CCA member there who came down to the motel where we were staying and spent hours trying to help us find a shop to drop the car off and he eventually took us to get a rental car.
I have found this to be a friendly and helpful group so this might work, maybe.
Any interest in something like that for those of us who love Minis? This could more easily be accomplished online these days instead of printing a book. But this is not about me volunteering now, believe me! Just a feeler for interest.
