Rear view mirror ???

Hello,

I have a 2004 R53 cooper S hard top and im wondering if anyone knows if a 2007 rear view mirror will fit? I know both mirrors mount to the head rest and that my mirror just quarter turns at the base to come off. The mirror im looking I think has the bubble at the bottem from an 07.

Any help would be awesome.

Thanks,
Sean

Here is the 2004 R53 MINI Cooper S Interior mirror assembly.

Here is the 2007+ R56 MINI Cooper S Interior Mirror Assembly

They look similar, but not identical. I'd be interested to see if this works.

From what I understand, the rearview mirrors changed in 2005, with the facelift. Apparently, 2002-2004 cars had one type of mirror, and 2005-2006 hardtops (up to 2008 cabrios) had the newer type. I think the current mirror is the same as the one in the 2005-2006 cars.

John,

Thanks for posting the assembly pics. I was checking out the Mirrors for the 2007+ and it looks like the one labeled #2 will work. Only issue is dont really need the homelink stuff if thats possible. I wonder why they are shaped different where they mount to the head rest? All this to be able to by a Blend mount for my Valentine.

Thanks again,
Sean

I finally received my Mirror that I purchased on Ebay. I believe its from a 2007. It has a ball on the bottom that your turn to self dim if that helps. Either way this mirror does mount right up to the 2004 Mini Cooper S. The mirror is a few inches bigger but everything else appears to be just fine. Thanks again for all the help.

Digging up an old thread.. But does anyone know if the homelink would work on an '04. I cant tell if this means he upgraded to a larger facelift mirror or a facelift mirror with homelink.

I have a basic mirror in my 04 and would like to swap in auto-dip and homelink. Lots of threads mention facelift, but not 02-04.

You have to swap the inside parts of them as it changes with the Key fob design. I did this in my 2005 convertible. You would take the guts of the 2002-2004 and swap them to the 2005 one. You would also have to disconnect the homelink wires then find the power tunr on lead and solder it together. On the autodim its a start swap.
