I went on a MINI Plant Oxford factory tour yesterday with a local UK MINI club and we saw several random F56 coming down the final assembly lines mixed in along with all the current MINI's.
Also saw a couple of 5 door F56 MINI hatches on the production line (white and orange body colours) and some finished 3 door F56 MINI hatches parked up inside the plant, only one was disguised with the yellow/black vinyl. Look good in the metal.

My rant. Not happy about the new Mini front end.
Well, I've seen pics and have had time to contemplate and ponder the new look over the last few months. I own two Minis and actually want no. 3 at some point, I think. Mini isn't convincing me to stay on board with the new car.
Mini (or rather BMW) just stepped on their (fill in the appropriate body appendage) with golf cleats. That front end is horrendous and has absolutely makes no design sense. It's too "busy". The big black "thing" across the grill cheapens the look. The car doesn't have that British flair or carry the historical "look and feel" of the MINI brand going forward.
It looks like someone at BMW told the engineers: "lets change the front end to make it unoriginal and copy the uninspired looks from all the other car brands like Mazda and Toyota and mish-mash it into our new Mini".
I also believe if the engineers had actually taken the time to wash the front end of their new Mini design covered in baked on bugs and road grime, they would have redesigned it to make it look more like the current MINI.

yeah, the front end is really ugly. I dont accept the excuse that they are trying to "meet the new crash standards" as a reason why it looks like &%$#. I mean look at the newer mercedes and porsches. I'm sure they must meet the same safety standards, but they look 100X nicer in the front.

Don't know what all the fuss is about the F56 looks like quite a subtle evolutionary update in these Recent Spyshots:

"Be one of the first to see the new MINI at three exclusive reveal events in London, Los Angeles and Shanghai. Just watch closely and answer the question at the end of the video for your chance to win."
How many times did you see the Mini?

Soooo what do we make of this completely undisguised shot from a more normal and level angle?
The headlights are not so bad from this but I still hate the black bumper going through the grill and especially the lower rectangular valance that protrudes from the bottom.
Mechanically the car sounds like its going to be good, especially since it will have a Rev matching system like the 370z which was awesome; its a shame the looks are not there to back it up.

Not digging the LED running lights. On BMWs, the blank (unlit) portion is on the top, which gives the car a glowering, menacing look. Flip them upside down on the MINI, and the car looks like it is welling up with tears. Don't cry little MINI, it'll be OK!
