Hi Mini folk,

Got the word from my Mini dealer that they had just 10 Cooper Hardtops left in their June allocation... and that would conclude their custom orders for 2013 hardtop production, next gen hardtops are not expected until well into next year and there's no official timetable yet.

I was facing a dilemma because I love the current drive/personality/size of the Mini, but I knew time was running out to get a new one. While the 2014 models will be amazing, I would rather drive the final year of a well-calibrated production run than beta-test the first specimens of a brand new design. I question why the next model is growing larger, and losing the quirky Mini traits like the center-mounted speedo/window switches and airplane like vents. I'm sure it'll be an excellent car, but I get the feeling BMW is trying to please broader audiences, and I get it, but no need to tame the car into 3-series'ness.

Sooooo anyway, I pulled the trigger on what's one of the last Minis coming down the line and I'm beyond psyched! Ordered myself a MCS in British Racing Green! Since it's not easy being green, I added a lil white into the mix.

Counting the days 'til my lil buddy crosses the pond and makes its way over here... spec'd the Premium 2 and Sport Packages, also added a anthracite headliner to match the black leatherette/dash surfaces, rear fogs (fill in the empty toggle) and Harman-Kardon sound. I would figure I'll see a delivery in late July or August... right now the Owner's Lounge shows my production number as a Silver Justa, but I'm sure it'll update in due time ;)

That was my exact colors I wanted but glad I ended up with the colors I did!

Good luck and trust me, it's gonna be a sexy green and white! Enjoy your MINI when you receive it, you did the right thing!

Never heard of premium 2, what does that include?

Agree... I think you made a good decision. Especially since I just made the same one a few days ago.:nod:

And for the Lord... Premium 2 is sunroof, auto climate, auto wipers and auto headlights.

I'm with you, go "green"! My baby is currently waiting at the port in Southampton for a ship to bring her home to me.

Congrats on your order, and may I compliment your choice of colours. Green is Good...and with white? Even better

I also think you made a very smart choice in grabbing the last of the R56s. The first year of any refresh can be buggy, and like you, I'm none too impressed with the F56 changes like no more center speedo, relocated window controls, etc. The F cars may look better in person than pics portray, but still, there's something to be said for the current/outgoing design, both inside & out.

I hope you post some pics after you take delivery and stop long enough to snap a few

That'll look nice. If I couldve configured the Clubman S that way I would have.

Congrats on your order!

Got my VIN, production started already and an estimated completion of June 18th! They're moving really fast, must be the last few cars out the gate before they retool for next gen builds.

My R53 was just like that. My R55, which I've had for three weeks now, is completely green. I like it a lot. But you did well. And I completely agree with you about wishing to avoid any first-year problems with the next version.
