Engine slips sound when accelerating at high RPM

Hi,
I drive a 2003 mcs. Usually my boost cut off is slightly over 7000rpm although i don't push it that hard. But now, let say, from first gear, i pull it to 2nd and to 3rd and so on, it feels like the boost cuts off, like as if the engine slips..then when i was in 6th gear going about 200km/h, it doesn't to go any further then engine slips again at slightly lesser than 6000rpm...it sounds like the engine slips a few times, or as if you are hitting the speed cut limit, and as if the boost cuts off...i feel funny...is this a tensioner problem? spark plugs? ......sometimes its fine in 1st and 2nd gear but the problem starts after 3rd gear onwards and until 6th gear.. Please please advice!!

Slips?
Not sure folks get the description....
Are you talking about a SOUND change?
slip is usually used in conjunction with a clutch slipping....does make a sound change...but your description is kinda...er...hard to undrstand imo. Might try describing it again!!
Sounds like you might be just describing a speed limiter...but VERY few folks ever encounter that...most tracks a just too slow!!

Has your car been reprogrammed? The stock 2003 MCS rev limit was below 7000.

Sounds like you're hitting the rev limiter. Also, is your car modified? From what I understand, all MCS are capped at 6950rpm.

In the US......
some different markets did get different limits.... if i remember white rooff radio did have info that gen1 cars delivered in europe had a different/higher redline.

Then maybe i am wrong by saying 'slip'...but this is more similar to speed limiter or boost cut off or maybe 'out of fuel' kind of feeling....this only happens if i accelerate slightly pass 5000rpm sometimes 6000rpm...so it varies...i never use to have this problem in my car before...yes i understand the boost cuts off if i over rev but this is weird cause it happens earlier...there is no sound from the engine but feels like there is like no fuel which makes the car to jerk or maybe struggle...but if i leave my foot slightly off the pedal then it doesn't jerk...the only sounds i experience is the exploding sound from my exhaust (like farting) when this happens...

Mine has been 6950rpm always. if i hit the 7000rpm the rev light indicator would start blinking already! But what i am going through now is confusing me...do i have problem with my throttle body or super charger pulley's tensioner problem or anything at all?

Look at your belt?
Might be describing the belt slipping.

Hummm well it sounds like its starving for fuel a bit....by all means its just a guess... But is it possible your fuel filter is starting to get plugged? Maybe its time for a new filter?... Just my thoughts.. There are several possibilities...good luck!!

belt slipping definitely make sense....maybe at high rev the pulleys is moving faster than the belt due to the belt is loose....does this make sense?

And from the octane you report, you are def not a US/North american user...here the number are reported using a different system......
I would look at the belt first...quick, cheap, and easy...regular MX too!
With a pulley, belts should be done every 2 years!
The oem or OEM JCW belts will start to slip pretty fast with a bit of wear...
Not sure what belts/sizing system you use in you local area....
most likely a MM length belt....stock MINI S is 1388 I think (hopefully not mixed up with the JCW)....in the US we are mostly using a 535 or even the shorter 532 length belt for folks running a 17% is becoming common.....us sizing system...not sure what the MM equivalent is!

I would also guess belt slipping or the crank pulley starting to fail.
What size belt are you using and when was it last replaced?
How many holes are showing on the belt tensioner?

I'm also going also chime in and say it's either the belt slipping, a bad crank pulley or fuel starvation.

Where are you driving 200km/h? That's about 124mph...

hey guys very sorry for the late update...the proper word was not slipping its actually mis fire.. Apparently there was no problem with my pulley or tensioner... i brought it to my own mechanic, he told my msd ignition coil got screwed...i was like there goes my money again.. what i did, i changed my spark plugs from brk6eix to denso ik22.. when i was changing the plugs i realize that plug nomber 2 and 3 was not tighten properly, it literally jus came out without me even putting force to unscrew it...

Long story short the plugs was loose and since i bought a colder once i swapped it and torqued it properly. After that everything was perfectly back to normal, i got back my full throttle again..Thanks guys

Pinging

Hey all, I've got a problem and I'd like to hear a few thoughts from you mechanically inclined mini modders. I've recently slapped on an ALTA 15% pulley with the correct size of belt and colder range NGK plugs. The car pulls damn good in all gears and is consistent. However, when in 6th or 5th, cruising at a good rate (50 mph+), I can hear a slight tick tick tick noise coming from the engine. I'm pretty damn sure it is pre-detonation with the plugs because I've heard the exact same noise in another vehicle. Any thoughts?

I would be surprised if it is pre-detonation knock because the Mini ECU should automatically retard timing to eliminate knock. Unless your knock sensor is bad.
I assume you are using 91 or 93 octane gas.
I had no knock issues on my 2003 MCS with a 15% pulley and colder plugs.

It could be your ignition coil wire or mayb your plug problem...sometimes your plugs get a lil loose after sometime, im not sure how, but tink its because of hard driving...neways my bro, check your ignition coil wire...

Forgot to clarify this, it ONLY makes the pinging or tick tick noise when I floor it. So, to further clarify, it doesn't make this noise at low speeds when I give it the pickle. Only cruising at the rate of 50 mph+....let me know what you think!

Im very sure it is either your ignition coil or plugs...when I experienced this problem before, usually happens at full throttle then it starts to misfire wen it reaches 5000 rpm then I hv to change my gear, then if I throtte again it probably mis fires even earlier than before...its hard to describe the sound but i'll try...it sounds like *klak klak klak klak klak klak*continuously until u change gear

I simple check is to pull off the spark plug wires from the coil terminals, one at a time, and look for corrosion on the coil terminals and inside the spark plug wire boots. There must likely will be corrosion on the coil terminals if you have never cleaned the terminals.
