Don't use the new E15 Fuel !

Just as a warning, that some fuel stations across the USA may be selling E15 Fuel instead of E10. This is the new fuel that the EPA says is safe but its not !

Don't use this fuel as it may ruin the fuel system in your Mini and it won't be covered by the Mini warranty.

The more ethanol that is in our gasoline will reduce your MPG's and the car is not designed to run on 15% ethanol gasoline.

I know almost all of us use Premium Fuel but look at the labels before filling up just to be safe.

E15 fuel should be labeled with Orange and Black pump handles, but it may not depending on the station.

Just be aware of the fuel you are using in your Mini !

Honestly that is a no brainer but, there are people that are going to screw it up and we will see threads about people screwing up becuase they don't pay attention or are just ignorant.

Not all states label their pumps: http://www.fuel-testers.com/state_gu...anol_laws.html

There already is but it wasn't the poster's fault, the company mistakenly put E15 in the wrong underground tank. The poster is looking at a $4000.00+ estimate. The company apparently has stepped up and taken responsibility for the error.

Two helpful resources for finding MINI friendly fuel:

Print them out and keep handy in the glove box for those twistie road trips.

It's very, very rare that you could be affected by this. First there's the Snopes story on this: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/e15.asp

E15 fuel is only being sold at 10 gas stations in Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa. There's a lot of scare tactics going on about it, but there is someone on NAM who has stated they accidentally got some in their MINI. I don't recall where they are from and I think it was a case of incorrect fuel delivered to a service station. If the station is selling this fuel, it should be clearly labeled on the pump as such.

SNIP

Actually, the post referred to E85, not E15. There is quite a difference.
