I picked up my MCS last month and drove from Tampa to Key Largo and back. Then from Tampa all the way to North Dakota, where I'm now stationed (Military).

Adam, thanks for putting this together as I know it's a pain in the **** to try and please everyone. I will definitely go as long as I have no military obligations. Once dates are in, I'll request leave! Hope to meet a few of you out there!

Minot? :)

"Why not Minot?" I think the phrase went...

Yessir! That's how I know Uncle Sam's got a sense of humor!

Just a bump to plant the seed on going to the event.

ViperNL 11-07-2012 09:41 AM

Thanks for the bump, I would not have noticed it otherwise :). I'm interested in going (and only live a couple hours away), but I will have to talk to the wife about it.

is there any date you need to have confirmation by? For reservations etc.? Don't think I saw that in the post.

submitaweasel 11-07-2012 10:00 AM

This sounds sick. I'd love to go but being in Ohio I'd really have to do a lot of preparation for this...I'd also like to know if there is a confirmation date, since June is fairly far away at this point and a lot can change by then.

m3dragon 11-07-2012 10:02 AM

No conformations fore this are needed yet. As we are still a ways out I am just keeping it on peoples radar to go. As we get closer I will post more details.

As for coming from Ohio, there are people coming from PA you could possibly meet up with and drive to YS with.

artmem 11-07-2012 10:49 AM

Unfortunately, I can't make the dates work this year, so I won't be able to go. It would be great if, when the trip is over, you could post any resources online that might be useful for people who want to do a drive like this in the future -- route maps, itineraries, etc.

m3dragon 11-07-2012 03:55 PM

So I had a member on one of the forums about this event offer to make decals. Below is a sample of the decals that would be available for the drive.

Not sure if we will do pick your number or assign a number. So far most people seem to want a decal number.

If you plan on attending even please make sure to fill out the Google form so i can start getting a better idea of numbers when i call the hotels towards the beginning of the year.

Please feel free to email you regional Euro car clubs to see if more people would be interested. I plan on inviting the CA Euro car marks that I know of.

Dibs on 46 hahaha

eagle65 11-13-2012 04:12 AM

In 2010 my wife and I drove from WV to MITM in CO, then motored with A LOT of MINIs to the MTTS finale in Denver, then to Fort Collins where our son was a Graduate Student @ Colorado State. We were in our 09 Clubman. Really enjoyed the trip, even with the heat. It was 108 when we went through St. Louis!

We are considering this Yellowstone Road Trip. Would like to visit Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse before arriving in Yellowstone, then who knows where? We just need to figure out the logistics, time, finances, etc. It really does sound interesting.

m3dragon 11-15-2012 09:36 AM

Here is another possible idea for a decal.

These are to be the friction type decal so you can remove it once done. These are optional if people want to do them. Let me know which one you like.

Cheers

ViperNL 11-15-2012 09:48 AM

I think I like the 1st one better

WyominGirl 11-15-2012 01:29 PM

Just putting this out there... I live at the East Gate if you need a resource locally for any legwork!

We threw in mount Rushmore , crazy horse, devils tower, the popcorn palace in Mitchell SD, Cody is awesome, spent 2.5 days in Yellowstone then south through the Tetons and as a bonus we went on through Laramie and down to Estes Park and the Rocky Mtn. National Forest. She has a 07 MCC and I the 08 hatchback. We could get more stuff in mine so it won out. Also the 08 is a 6 speed vs. her 5 speed. There is a difference! We cruised across South Dakota and Wyoming at 80 and never saw trooper for 7 days of the trip. My car is the base model and handled the trip beautifully! Got 35 mpg over the 3400 miles. We've only had mini's for about 6 weeks and have had a couple problems with hers but dealer fixed under warranty. To my knowledge there are no mini dealers in South Dakota or Wyoming so service your car and enjoy this trip it is amazing! We saw 5 other minis in Yellowstone but only talked to one owner from Kentucky. Saw about 15 or so others and a white over silver followed me about 60 miles thru Nebraska on our way back. Anyways fun cars fun trip! We are planning many mini vacations. I would like to tour Italy from the heel to the boot top! I suppose you could rent one there. Anyone ever done that one?

You are correct- no dealers here... Or MT.

submitaweasel 11-15-2012 02:24 PM

Even more reason for me to make sure I've got EVERYTHING done before I can commit to this trip  hopefully I can get enough money for all the parts I need in time....also, I agree with Zippy, the first one looks better.

Can you shoot me a email? That way we can chat off line about items.

Like the first decal better.

m3dragon 11-21-2012 07:06 AM

I wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe Thanksgiving.

So far, if everyone who has filled out the form can attend we have 23 cars and 41 people. Not too bad for a completely underground organized event. Maybe we can get enough cars and people to take over the town HAHA.

Tell your friends about the event and if you can reach out to your local and regional Euro car clubs to see if they have any members interested.

Cheers

Adam

submitaweasel 11-21-2012 07:12 AM

Now you're up to 24/43  I forgot to fill out the form initially. Happy Thanksgiving!

HAHA well thank you. Have a safe one for the holiday

m3dragon 11-28-2012 11:56 AM

A question came up if you need to attend the whole event.

Answers is NO. If you can only make half the event or only want to do half the event you can still attend. I am not holding anyone to the fire so you are welcome to come and go as you please. I will have some scheduled actives (group shots, drive areas, other being planned) that I would hope you attend but if you do not, I am not going to hunt you down ;-)

Ta87 12-01-2012 03:46 PM

Sounds great. I also like the first decal better.

m3dragon 12-07-2012 08:13 AM

I am still getting people singing up =) great to see all the eclectic mix of Euro cars that will hopefully be in attendance.

I am working with the West Yellowstone chamber of commerce on some special events activities while we are there. I also have a call into the National Park Service to see about arranging a special photo shoot inside the park. Navigating the red tape at the moment but hopeful i can pull it off.

Remember to email friends and contact your local Euro car clubs to let them know about this event. For a forum / underground created event, it is growing rather nicely. =)

Lazlo10S 12-07-2012 03:03 PM

Are you any closer to a definite date yet?

I updated the first post with the official dates. As mentioned you do not have to attend for the full week if the schedule does not allow.

Cheers

  • June 25th, 2013 – Yellowstone park South Loop

  • June 27th, 2013 – Leave West Yellowstone and travel to Jackson WY
    - Explore Grand Tetons during the day on the way to Jackson WY
  • June 28th, 2013 – Explore Grand Tetons
