Here are 2 ways to help you decide:

1.) Post a great, high-resolution picture of your car, and ask the Photoshoppers out here to give you some options, matte vs. gloss black.

2.) There is a product available (at least here in the United States), called "Plasti-dip". It comes in a spray-paint can, and you can mask off your tires, and spray a coating onto your (cleaned) wheels. This product is not permanent, so if you don't like it, it can come off quite easily. There are lots of threads on this here on NAM. I've seen guys plasti-dip their S-Lite wheels to a matte black. It looked good, and it's something you can do in just a few hours. It's a cost-effective way to see if you like the look, without taking the big leap and getting them painted, (or better yet, powdercoated), permanently.

Don't go black. The whole black out thing is just way way over played.

I wouldn't do Plastidip, either; that stuff wasn't made to weather the elements.
If I had money to spend on painting my wheels I would find a suitable RAL color and have them powder-coated. I bet a dark, glossy grey would suit a black car nicely. Often to my eyes black or white wheels on black cars look too much of the same or too much of a contrast, respectively.

Sorry Jonnieoh, I see you weren't endorsing Plastidip as a permanent solution...

If you like black, go to a site like Tire rack and look at all of the different possibilities to help you make your choice. Who cares if black is overplayed, it's YOUR car, get orange wheels if you like. The photoshop idea is a good one, good luck.

Yes; I meant to try out Plasti Dip as a temporary solution, to aid in his decision-making procedure. I wholeheartedly think that if the O.P. was then happy about going with black wheels, he should then paint, or powdercoat the wheels to be permanently black...
