What's up with E-Z Pass?

So I go to register my new MINI with a new E-ZPass tag (northeast area toll collection system) and they don't list MINI as a make of car in their drop down menu ... and don't even give an option for 'other.'

As far as E-ZPass is concerned I now drive a BMW MINI Cooper S!

What's wrong with these people????

I guess it's too new, only being around for decades.

I don't think that a "BMW MINI Cooper S" is really a description that's all that far off. Especially since my local MINI dealer sends all their customers next door to BMW to order/buy parts.

Good morning, you do drive a BMW MINI Cooper S. MINI Cooper is owned, designed, engineered and built by BMW.

Has anyone else had trouble with the EZ Pass not reading with the mini? Can't figure out if it's a problem with the height of the car, or my vanity plate, but intermittently it doesn't read. Thoughts?

From my experience, it could be a dying battery (even if new to you).

I never bother to update mine as long as the axle count is right I don't think they realey care.:)

I understand that my ez pass doesn't have a battery, it's a "passive" system. So still not sure why it works sometimes, and doesn't work others. Kind of defeats the purpose since I have to go through the regular line in case it doesn't work.

Are you sure? Unless there is some new version, the E-ZPass tags are battery powered RFID transponders. The battery is suppose to last 3 to 5 years, and isn't user replaceable, but sometimes the battery dies much sooner.

That's what hubby the electrical engineer said, but I'll ask him to double check.

I registered mine without problems.
