any DIYer's have an EZ CAR LIFT?
 

Like the title says, just wondering if any mini DIYer's have an ez car lift? http://ezcarlift.com/ I was really bugging my wife to get me one for christmas but she thought it was too expensive. but now they are on sale!! seems like this would be ideal for doing a suspension job which I plan on doing sometime this year. plus in the spring and fall when its wheel swapping season.

if anyone has one let me know what you think.

Perfect for all DIY.
Lifts car 26" up. Plenty of room to roll under.
Full access to car.
I got the drive on ramps.
It is expensive but well worth it.

cool!! yeah its expensive but takes up less space then other 2-post designs. you're paying for convenience and space saving aspect. all 3 cars i have are listed as model xm-64(which has a width range of 50-62 inches) I was looking at the drive over kit as well. My only concern is that one car I have has very low sideskirts and Im wondering if they would interfere with lifting. I guess I could put wood blocks between the lift and the frame if there is a problem. I think I might go out and do a couple last minute measurements before I order.....

If you have a really low car better get ramps.
Lifting points are adjustable fore & aft.
As you said, a couple of 2x4's under jack points is all you need.
Unit is a little heavy for me but I just leave it where I always work.
I think you'll like it.
Only requirement is 1/2" drill.

They are kind of expensive for something that doesn't pick the car up enough that you could stand under it. I just Googled car lifts and got this:

At $1445, it's twohundred dollars cheaper and it's a real lift!

this might be cheaper but my garage is only a 20x20. space is limited and a 2-post system would make it a tight fit for car#2. and if my wife cant park her car in the garage then we have problems!! besides, why would you need to stand under your car??

If you have the room for that type of lift then no problem.
EZ Lift rolls under car and you are ready to go.
It also comes apart to 4 pieces, hangs on wall.
For my limited space, it is perfect.

I have heard this a few times. I spent 5 years fixing cars at a couple of different places, and let me tell you, standing to replace exhaust, brakes, suspension parts, etc etc makes a world of difference. Standing under the car gives you more room to move around, plus if you are installing big stuff, it gives you a lot more elbow room. You can also have a tool cart right there so your tools don't roll away lol.

But for the typical home user that is just doing rotations, oil changes and maybe brakes, these kind of lifts are great. They don't take up a ton of space, they are portable, and looks like a pretty sturdy product. If the road I live on wasn't on a hill, including where my MINI is parked, I'd look at one of those, looks like a nice product.

It is soo much easier to stand up and work on the underside of a car, no scooting around on your back to go get another tool, you just walk over to your work bench.

If you only need to lift the car up a foot and a half, you can use a trolly jack and four jackstands, that'll cost you less than $200, and takes up a lot less room when stored. How fast does a do it yourselfer need to pick up a car anyway?

The EZ Carlift a nice idea but it is overpriced for what it is.

Not to mention that most residential garages don't have near enough ceiling height to allow you to stand under your car....

Since I have had my EZ Lift I have completed these projects.
Install header
Install exhaust system
Install BBK's, F&R
Complete suspension installation
Tire rotation
Oil changes

The lift has been loaned out for engine change, transmission change (2),

I have never felt confined in any way under the car. You access from all for sides.

The construction of the lift is excellant. It can be left in the weather with no problem.

I'm not saying this is the perfect lift for everyone. If you are a average joe who works on your own cars alot, then you should think about this lift. I'm 60 yrs old and this is far easier to use than jacking the car up 4 times for jackstands. I feel safe under the car. I can run the car when it is elevated.

To each his own choice.

I think I would rather have a midrise/scissor lift for that kind of money...

It costs a little more, but it will do so much more AND its portable (more or less).

I've checked out the MaxJax before too.....not as portable as the ez car lift....unless you have another location already drilled for lag bolts.

This would be good if you dont have room for a full size lift but you want the height range desired

A friend of mine had a set of MaxJax.
Big issue with it was kept running into it when walking around garage.
It wasn't just him, almost everybody hit the jacks at one point or another.
They have really raised the price on MaxJax too.

Only problem I have witnessed is that it needs to have a nice really smooth level surface to be used on. If it is a bit out of level it can rock and if it has a rough surface the small rollers won't go over the imperfections easily.

I have a maxjack and it works for me, but it was height limits that made the choice for me. As far as being mobile, if you don't mind taking out 6 bolts (which I kind of do) you can just have one side stationary, and it isn't much of an issue for parking. Removing the bolts and moving it doesn't take long.

The 48 inches with a little rolling seat is just enough for me to get under the car sitting (6 feet tall) and working on wheels and many other things is just about perfect. I like it and it was about the same price.

My buddy has one like the OP's post and certain things are hard to do around the middle of the car, but for wheels and many things, it is great.

I would need ramps to get on his lift, but the mini goes right on the maxjack.

That's a nice alternative to a full lift but I have found that my extensive projects and a need to park more cars than I have garage space for need a 4-poster. I bought a Bend Pak 9000 lb. 4-poster several years ago and even moved it from Indiana to SoCal recently. I spent many years on my back on cold, hard concrete working on my cars - I'm spoiled by the lift. But hey, it's a good kinda' spoiled. :)

The most important aspect of buying a lift is researching the safety features and safety record of the lift model and making sure it's ALI/ETL certified. http://www.autolift.org/

They will take $200 deposit and hold price until delivered.

just yesterday i spent 45 minutes trying to get my car on 4 jack stands.

45minutes= why you dont buy a cheapo rolling jack :)

I purchased the ezcarlift after Thanksgiving and although pricey in comparison to other options, it's a great product for my situation. I don't have much ceiling height and the limited space in my two car garage rules out a 4 post lift. The hassle of freight delivery on a scissor lift (no access to a forklift to get it off the delivery truck), made the ezcarlift even more appealing.

This will be great considering the amount of times I put my car on jack stands during track season for brakes, suspension, and wheel changes, etc.

The car that developed this was a racer also.
That's where design came from.
