Exhaust Tips—What fits. What doesn't!

I recently tried to find out if the Sport Tips I wanted to buy in the marketplace fit my JCW exhaust and looked all over to try to get the answer. Some said yes. Others no. I called a vendor that had them in their catalog and they said yes. Alas they don't. I posted in another thread asking if anyone modified them to fit and was offered a trade for JCW tips that someone bought that didn't fit their stock R53 exhaust. Clearly there is a need for one thread with good information.

So, if you have fitted exhaust tips to your Mini, any Mini and tips from any vendor, post your experience here. If you have a picture, all the better.

Let me start. The Sport Tips will not fit a JCW without modifying the pipes or having the tips welded on.

Stock tips will not fit the JCW exhaust.

Sport Tips will fit a stock R53 exhaust.

Here is a picture of my new JCW tips on Artoo.

There are a lot of options out there with some nice ones on eBay, Amazon and elsewhere. It will be nice to know what fits and what don't!

The R56 tips require a tweak of modification to make them work on the R53 JCW Exhaust as it has a double wall.

- New sets from dealer run about 40 dollars for the pair.
- Remove the OEM hex screws.
- Find a drill bit almost as large as the hex screw opening as you are going to drill out a hole into the inner wall so a longer hex screw can reach the JCW tail pipe. Takes a little work as you don't want to mess up the OEM threads.
- Place over OEM tail pipe and tighten down the new longer hex screw which are available at any hardware store. I just matched one at the store and got it a bit longer.

So, if JCW tips will not fit the stock R53 pipes, will the newer R56 tips fit the stock R53 pipes ???
