I'm Sorry, I cheated on The Dragon
 

I feel bad but i had my first experience on the Tail of the Dragon.....not in my Mini, but in my friend's new (to him, its 01) Porsche 911. IT WAS A BLAST!!! Here is a video of one of his runs. We did 4 total (2 round trips each) runs.

After that i want to make the 14 hour drive from NYC with the mini just to drive the Tail. What was cool is that they had Mini stickers at Deal's Gap (souvenir and biker stop). It was the only car called out by name!

Seems like a nice leisurely run. I guess with it fully opened to traffic you don't know when a semi-truck is coming, and the road is full of locals puttering to the market. The only time I'd been on the Dragon was this spring when it was closed to through traffic.

Was up there last week. I have to admit, it wasn't much fun. Got stuck behind a group of Harleys doing like 25 MPH. On the return trip I was stuck behind a Kia minivan doing between 10 and 25 MPH. I couldn't have gotten a ticket if I tried!:no:

You have to go for the MOTD (minis on the dragon ) on april 27 to may 1st 2011 its a freakin blast 400+ minis chewin up on the dragons A$$..... Nothing like it anywhere.... But a run on the Million Dollar Hwy in Colorado looks kinda spooky .no railings or trees to stop you from meeting the bottom of a 400+ ft drop. In some areas there is only a 6in shoulder after the white line . I saw this recently on Dangerous Drives TV show

I am seriously consider driving the mini down there next year.

Crap just realized I am getting married on May 7th. That will make doing MOTD difficult to say the least.
