Right now, rattles in the cabin probably. Mechanically, Egan has been mostly trouble-free, and of course a absolute joy to drive, hence why I still own it after almost 12 years, but if I could improve the cabin a bit to reduce the rattles, and make the car sound more durable inside, I'll do that.

That we're putting too many miles on our R59... How will we keep it forever if we keep using it the we we do? . . .

Don't know about your year Mini, but the 2016 has several readouts under speedometer. Tap button on end of turn signal stalk and one of the options that comes up is a water temp gauge.

2016 MCS with every JCW option, including exhaust and tune. Love everything about it (no stone throwing please) but the designers screwed up one thing that really would have enhanced the car. Instead of the big speedometer and secondary tach on left and fuel level on right, they should have...........

1. Large center tach with window showing digital speedometer
2. Left side of tach ~ 2 analog gauges, oil pressure and battery
3. Right side of tach ~ 2 analog gauges, water temp and fuel.

That I don't live closer to the Dragon and therefore cannot drive it everyday as it was designed to do.

I dislike the damn CHECK ENGINE light being on all the time. I would tell you what I have done to solve this problem, but there is insufficient space or time to do that.

Look on the bright side: You live closer than I do to to thousands of miles of slick, twisty roads, including the Dragon.

Wisconsin is not exactly known for their twisty roads.

Just put a piece of electrical tape over the check engine light!

I hate that my battery has IBS and I'm supposed to go to a dealership for a new one and registering. I have an appointment for inspection at the dealer (non-MINI) where I bought my car because the inspection is free. I asked them to see if the battery needs replaced and if so, do it. Autozone tested it for me yesterday and confirmed. Non-MINI dealer told me they've replaced and registered new batteries in MINIs before. We shall see. Service manager is a friend so I expect they know what they're doing or will tell me if they can't do it.

Three things the Germans or British can’t do well:

1. Cup holders are only big enough for an espresso cup pretty much worthless.
2. The arm rest in the middle is just an obstacle not a convenience device; AND,
3. The Germans or British need to learn how to apply a good paint job. Clear coat should never flake; not even if it gets nicked.

oh yeah, one more thing.

The seatbelt receptacles need to be about an inch higher so you don’t have to squeeze your hand between the seat and the useless armrest to get to it. It takes an expedition to buckle the seatbelt!

The exhaust system on the R53. There is plenty of room in the tunnel for the pipe to put mufflers, but they put those big stupid square boxes at the end. Without those in the way there would have been room for a spare tire.

+1 for interior rattles... solve one and 4 more pop up. Sunroof rattles, dash, pillars in the back... it makes me want to strip everything!

Actually, has anyone ever removed a dual sunroof from a Gen1 mini? Wondering what that entails. My buddy removed his sunroof in his e36 M3 and replaced it with a piece of carbon.

Cosmoline
By far the worst thing about my MINIi 2 door hard top. My previous MINI had no problem. I had never even heard of the stuff. I guess the dealer did their job and cleaned it off before delivery. This is my second Texas summer with this one. It's black, to boot, not that this matters since most have black molding around the wheels and that's where it stains. Everywhere else that it POURS out it just happen to be more of an eyesore with a black car. Anyone else have a lovely cosmoline problem?

Btw, love my MINI!! Hoping to be on my third cosmoline free one in a year or two.

2011 Countryman still will drip the stuff out on really hot days.

I hate when they design the little parts they go cheap with plastic. I closed the engine hood after cleaning the engine bay and was going to wax it, when the chrome headlight ring on the driver side popped off. Three little plastic holders for the retaining clips on the headlight ring were cracked and I now have an order in for a new ring. Seems on something like this where it will be opened and closed with some form of vibration all the time would be made out of metal instead of plastic. It's supposed to be a quality European car ... not a 25 year old Hugo. This is quality ?

Not in love with the exterior door handles on my '13.

I have to grab them palm up to be able to release latch.

Hate the way that the rear tires throw dirt all over the hatch. Tried mud flaps but they did no good and looked dumb. Took them off.

It’s not just the tires throwing up debris, it’s the inherent design of a hatchback or basically any vehicle with a vertical rear facia. The factory mudflaps and JCW extensions on the spoiler improved mine a little bit, but it’s still always the dirtiest part of the car. My Suburban is even worse. There’s a reason they put a rear wiper on these things.

I wonder if the GP2 rear diffuser has any effect on keeping the hatch area cleaner. Anyone with a GP2 or diffuser retrofit notice the hatch staying clean?

From seeing GP2 cross the country on MTTS, I have seen them to be a little cleaner and the lower bumper, mostly on the glass part, but the back end of the overall design still gets dirty.

Its might be the combo of that rear wing.

Air vents not tight, hate the sunroof out of adjustment, and too expensive to fix.
