Rallye Monte Carlo--Why no more MINI's?

For all the talk about the MINI/Mini's heritage and how the originals won several of the Monte Carlo Rally's, why haven't we heard anything about the cars in the rally since the 60's? Maybe we have and I just haven't heard anything. Did the Mini's win because their architecture were so radically different and the rest of the rally world caught up? Do MINI's still compete in the rally? If anyone has any information I'd like to know!

Might be coming soon in the form of the MINI Countryman.

Again, no MINI's. Is this because the car's now have more HP's and, what seems to be, more 4WD oriented?

The MINI comes up short under current rally rules. Check out Rallycars.com for lots of rally car info, if you are interested.
