What's it worth?
I have an itch to buy a 135i. So, I need to think about selling my mini. Here are the details. 2004 MCS. No sunroof, No multifunction steering wheel. 32,000 miles. Upgrades: JCW steering wheel with JCW CF inserts and JCW shift knob. JCW CAI. Milltek catback. H-Sport 19 sway bar. Steel plate over fan. M7 tower supports. Factory guages installed. Sport package. Cold package. BBS wheels with new Gen UHP tires. Second set of summer wheels---OZ Supperleggra with Yokohama S drives, about 50% worn. JCW carbon fiber mirror caps. Rear seat delete kit. Short antenna. Redline black leather shifter boot and Ebrake handle. Aux. input. Red Top Optima battery. Black out tape on beltline and darken side reflectors. Rear spoiler has been removed, but is available as is the rear seat. The color is dark silver with a black top. I am the original owner and most of the work has been done by Mini dealer. Some done by Kelly Motorsports. This car has rarely seen a garage and has been driven thru all our winters in WI. I am 61 years old and don't pamper my cars nor do I abuse them. I have been driving stick shifts since 1967 and have never replaced a clutch. I know how to treat an engine and know what's important in maintaining a performance car It's in my blood, but that's another story. I have never dumped the clutch nor tracked this vechicle. I have NEVER had any problems with this car. Really. I am thinking about selling because of the 135i. The ride is a little more comfy and the rear wheel drive is very appealing. And, I just might be able to finally afford one. Also, the body is in good shape, not perfect. Let me know what you think I could sell this MCS for.

let's face it
most people are going to look it up in Kelly's and be hard over to pay anything over the value there....mods or no mods. my run thru of your data a KBB says $12k and change in a private sale ... how much can you pump that with your mods???? I dunno You might get lucky but you may pay the difference in advertizing b4 you find the person willing to pay a premium. and it ain't worth a penny more then you can find a buyer willing to pay. sorry mate .... that's the hard line. |
Your mods are not going to help. Take them off and sell as stock sell the rest. Sorry to say no one is looking for a modded car. Don't know who did the work and they don't know how it was driven. Personal experience speaking here.
Edit: Unless they are JCW parts get rid of rest JCW will help you. |
+1. Take the non-Mini mods off and sell them on fleaBay.
Unless you are looking to sell the car to some teenage ricer, those modifications actually detract from the price on the open market. The thought of buying a used car owned by a 21 year old amateur knucklehead has me running for the hills. I will never look at a car with a wing, loud exhaust, lowered suspension, or CAI. As a typical middle aged buyer with enough cash to buy a used car without 18% financing, I would like to believe the car was owned by an anal-retentive female librarian. Everyone wants to believe their car is a "virgin" or at least that the car was loved in a heated garage and only driven on Sundays. Mods chase a LOT of people away. |
Better yet, sell the mods here in the marketplace.

By the way. If you didn't figure it out already...
Keep the original parts if you mod your car. People assume that if you put performance mods on a car, you drive like a maniac and the car has been abused. It may not be true but that's the assumption. You'll probably get more for your car if you put the stock parts back on before selling. |
