So I'm dead set on getting a MC-S what should I expect to pay?
 

I'm looking for a 2006-2008 CPO(if possible) Mini Cooper S

Must Haves:
Sun/Moon Roof
Low miles
Sports Package

Like to haves:
JCW
Alloy Wheels

Is there anything else you guys would suggest? Maybe 2007 is a better year, I'm not too savvy on MINIs yet :)

I've seen similar cars from anywhere 16K-24K, hoping to land in @ 18-20K OTD

I got my 2007 MCS over the summer, it had 23k miles, it's spec's are in my signature. I paid $20k for it....

Remember, going from 06 to 07 is a big difference, there was a big update, which made the mcs use a more fuel efficient and torquier turbo-charged engine, along with a whole bunch of other changes.

Some people here think that they are still worth more than I do, but I would not pay anything starting with a "2" for a 2006 MINI unless it is a low-mileage GP.

My thoughts exactly, JCW does bump up the value but at 16000 miles and a 2006 makes me think it was a track car only which I don't want.

Our local dealer had a 2006 JCW with 29k miles listed for $19.5k, and it sat and sat and sat. I offered 17k, was laughed away. Eventually sold after many months.

I think you'd have to be a bit crazy to pay more than $20k for a 2006-2007. There was a guy on here recently who eventually sold his 2009 JCW for $23.5k with only 8k miles... and he started out around $26k I think.

I just want a 2007 Mini Cooper S Dark Gray sports package premium package with a sunroof for 20k final price I don't think that's asking too much.

Found my 06 MCS sport package, limited slip diff, headlights and no options to speak of 50k miles for 13.9. OTD> :) Just what I was looking for too. Most folks I talked too along the search said they had had little to no activity selling them, so low ball offers could get you the car you want. NVNG! Craigslist using Search Tempest. Does it have to be from a dealer? I'm buying an '08 dark silver MC-S with 24k on the clock and all four packages for 17.5k from a private seller. I would stick w/ the '07+ models cuz the interior is that much nicer. I'm also a fan of the turbo over the supercharger and increased gas mileage is always a plus :thumbsup:

I've contacted quite a few private sellers as well, not many are willing to budge around here in Orange County :( I guess I will have to keep fishing for the perfect car!

I'm in the DC Metro area. I found it on Craigs List and jumped on it because the price was right. Luckily the couple who own it are extremely nice and have been very helpful in fixing the car before they sell it to me (it had a few scratches on it). Keep hunting and I'm sure you'll find the right car.

Don't know what perfect is, but 21K doesn't sound all that bad. You can, subject to inspection, offer less. I made offers on 4 MINI's before I purchased mine.

When I was considering buying a used MINI, I was advised by a couple of highly respected MINI mechanics to go with the R53 (i wanted a cabrio so R52) and a manual transmission as there were issues with the turbo version & auto trans. My 2 cents, first off, when buying a used car, I am more concerned with the mileage on the car, as opposed to the year. I would rather buy an 03 with 17K miles then an 06 with 16K miles as, in my opinion, the car was not driven as much. Though there is something to be said with getting some factory warranty, 4YR 50K miles. Next, in my short historywith my MINI, I have not understood the fascination with the JCW or even GP cars when there are mods & mechanics out there that will allow you to far surpass what you get with those cars, for significantly less money. Having said all that, in So Cal, where I live, I see an 04 S w/ 27K for $15.5K, a loaded 07 S with 16K for $18.5, another 07 w/ 9K for $18.9, to name a few. Good luck!

Really? I see those low mileage cars as much more problematic - either not driven frequently (seals, hoses deteriorating from non-use), or driven frequently for lots of very short trips. Either way it can be hard on the engine.

With ultra-low miles, I also question whether the car has really been tested - driven so gently, you don't know whether you've got a lemon in waiting or not. As "Car Talk" has said, "Once the car hits 200k miles, it will never break down on you!"

I'd drive both an '07 and an '06 and see which you like best. The supercharger and turbo offer different feels and so like one or the other.

I really enjoy my '09 with the turbo due to the torque that comes on so strong right off idle. The turbo is a really flexible, efficient, and responsive engine.
