MSN's "Best Cars of the Decade"

Nice to see that our beloved MINI makes at least two appearances in this list, despite the somewhat mediocre (auto related) editorial of the staff at MSN:

Enjoy and have a happy new year!

From the article:

David Booth – ’08 – present Mini Cooper John Cooper Works

The only way to judge a car of the decade, as far as this not-so-humble scribe is concerned, is to determine what you would buy with your own money. It takes something to get us spoiled auto journalists to consider parting with any of the meager funds that come our way. For the chronically cash-starved auto journalist -- who spends each successive week in a seemingly endless stream of new cars -- actually spending your own hard-earned dosh on an automobile is like getting a porn star to pony up for a prostitute.

But were I no longer in the auto business, I would buy a - drum roll please -- Mini Cooper John Cooper Works. Yup, it is expensive for its size, but it goes like snot, gets about seven litres per 100 kilometres and is one of the cheapest cars that is exotic and stylish enough that I won't get bored with it in three years' time. It's plenty roomy for two which is all that I need now that the basement troll (that would be money pit that is my university-attending son) is all grown up, handles a dream and drives like a much bigger car - i.e. the engine isn't buzzy and it feels stable at speed. Besides, it's cute.

I love to see MINI get more popular however I hate it when people buy the MINI because it's the "new hip thing" or they think it is just so darn cute. Then you go and try to talk to them about it and they don't know anything.

I love Jim Kenzie's description of his Targa race Mini.

Hoping to take my Cooper S there in the next few years.

Nice to see the list...I own two: a MINI and the 2005 F150 SuperCrew...
I think they should have reprented more cars that the "common man" could afford and own...about 3/4 the list is beyond the normal car owner!
