Official Horizon Blue Owners Club
Congratulations robotrock! I like the stripes you picked out, classy but a touch of sport. Good to have a fellow JCW on the HzB list. Totally agree with the effort it takes to stay within the break-in guidelines. Now that I'm beyond the 1200 miles I have had fun recently "driving it like I stole it" as they say in another thread. Sport mode stays on most of the time
. The commute is totally different with the JCW.

thanks guys! yeah it's crazy how different but awesome the blue looks in different light. i'm really glad i decided on this color.
and i agree that this break in period is way too long!
i can't wait to go camping at the beach next week
here's more of a wide-angle close up view. looks kinda fishy.

Hello All,
This is Erl. I am an MCSC, Horizon Blue (body and roof/mirrors) with silver C-pillars and roof rails!
After three years waiting for my adoptive family to make up their minds, I have arrived at their dealer's warehouse where I am lovingly and carefully being stored until I can go home with my new family August 31st. Please don't add me to your club yet as I want to proudly and officially claim acceptance into my new family upon initiation.
I hear they take excellent care of their transporters and keep as many in the family as possible by passing on their well loved, high mileage vehicles to other family members.
I wanted you all to know I am in the states, preparing for my journey and am eagerly awaiting the opportunity to gain new motoring skills as an American! - Blessings, erl

Sorry got you as #27. The break in will be over soon.
One more month it seems at my going rate. Since this is my non-family car, I don't get going as much as I'd like.
How often do you all wash it? I'm not much of a hand washer and it looks pretty clean so far... at least compared to my old metallic black car which showed dirt and swirls even after dealer detailing after service.

I'm already close to 900 miles in 1 week, so my break-in should be done by this weekend
As for washing, I haven't had much of an opportunity to wash it yet since I live in a city. But it rained pretty hard around here last night and that seemed to get rid of a lot of the loose dirt. I'll probably end up washing it for real sometime this weekend.

Gongrats jmhouse. Looks great!
I didn't go back and review every post in this thread, but it appears there are 3 or 4 HzB owners in the DC/Baltimore area just in the past few weeks, and another HzB in Richmond which isn't that far away at all. It would be fun to meet and park side-by-side sometime! A fun photo opportunity.
Cheers

Add me to the list! I've had mine for two whole weeks and 1100 miles - very happy. HzB/B cold/Premium/BT/iPod/Aero/Nav/etc. Bought off the lot with cash for clunkers and spent more than I planned. Oh well.
I'm now sitting at the tint shop waiting for my Invisi Bra to be installed.

I picked up Boonyboy on August 10th and have been loving every minute of it. Please add me on the list. I had a hard time giving back my 2006 CR baby, but this new one drives like a dream, much smoother ride. I just had to get use to the new interior changes and locations of the toggles. I just LOVE the color and so does everyone else!! I'm thinking of getting the black stripes. He's so classy just the way he is. I will soon post a picture.

Hi everyone - I may be a bit premature posting here but my 09 horizon blue mini cooper s (Lil Minx) has just moved into production in Oxford and I'm so excited. =) I ordered her on August 6th and she started her production on the 18th so I'm hoping that in a months time she'll actually be here (crossing fingers).
Can't wait for her to get here so I can join in your wonderful list officially.

Scott,
Although I am not partial to the silver roof/c-pillars, yours looks really nice with the checkered flag applique on the bottom!!!! I like the roof the same color for ours....again though, your checkers really set off the top and back! So I am changing my tune on that combo...she looks sharp! Where did you get the checker's from? Ours was off the lot so I am not sure if it can be added later.
Regards,
Mike

Mike1968NM,
The graphics (automotive grade vinyl) were custom done by a shop here in Oklahoma City. We asked our dealer if they could recommend someone and the gentleman they sent us to owns a display/sign shop that does that kind of work. In fact, he owns several Mini's and runs the okMini.com website.
We wanted something a little different than the standard Mini fare. We thought the design would add a nice subtle touch to the car and throwing a bit of the silver color down low kinda' balances out the two colors. We also had the "Actual Size" lettering done in the same silver vinyl - it is on the rear side windows. He did a superb job and we are very pleased with the look.

Mike1968NM,
Just so happens.......(lettering is 3/4" high x 5 1/2" long) - I let David (the man behind the vinyl) decide on the size and he said this is his most common size lettering for the "Actual Size" graphics. (if you look at the picture a few posts above - you can see the lettering - that will give you an idea of the overall size relative to the car).
It did seem a bit small at first, but it is readable from quite a distance. I have seen quite a few variations on other Mini's as far as size, all uppercase vs. mixed, italics vs. straight block etc. Of course, life would be boring if everything was the same!
Also, the checkered flag pattern is 6" high - each row is 2" high. And..... the silver checks are individually cut squares - the blue in between is car body paint. It is not a solid, two color piece of vinyl. I did see a checkered pattern yesterday (different placement on car and smaller) that was a solid one piece, two color graphic - couldn't find the owner to ask about it though.
