Taking a MINI on a test drive today

I'm getting ready to take my very FIRST test drive in the Cooper today. I know I can't buy until the summer, but since I've never driven one, I figure I should drive it at least once before I buy!!!

I'll check back in after I'm able to peel the grin off my face!

It's going to be He(Double Toothpicks) to have to wait that long if you are Testing Driving this early, because you will FALL IN LOVE, the MINI-itis will set in and have you agonizing over whether or not YOU "Have to Have ONE NOW!!!"

Have FUN...remember "Drive it Like YOU Stole It!!

Well THAT was FUN! Had to go to Greenville, SC from the Athens, GA area, but the drive was worth it!!!!! Drove two different cars, the regular Cooper and the S. Enjoyed both equally. Will probably stick with the regular Cooper just for mileage sake.

What really amazed me was the difference between driving without the Sport button being pushed and with it being pushed.... VERY COOL! My wife went along with me, and got nervous a few times on curves... she said, "I've just never ridden in a car that can take curves like that!"

Yep, it's gonna be hard to wait until the summer, but I have no choice... I'll just keep going to Greenville to drive it again!

WOOHOO!

Definately sounds like the start of a long addiction. I had to buy one just to cope. If for some reason I can't drive mine daily I have withdrawls.

Ive been there, done that!

Here is my little story!

Ive had my eye on a Mini now for a pretty long time.

I told myself once my 3 year lease is up on my Mazda, my next car would be a Mini. That is easier enough said than done... since I still had to convince my wife. I had 3 years to do that.

I started slowly, leaving a picture or two of a Mini on the desktop of the family computer. Leaving the mini.ca website open in explorer, talking about Mini`s, playing a game with my son in the van that anytime someone see`s a mini first the person screams MINI!!.

My plan was slowly in motion. Summer of 08 I spotted a Mini at a Honda dealer and stopped in to just peak in. Next thing you know im sitting in it driving down the road I thought I was previously in love, but I was HEAD OVER HEELS in love. Now the problem was how was I ever going to contain this inside of me!

I just wouldnt shut up at home, Mini this, Mini that, Mini this... My wife finally said to shut me up she would come for a test drive with me. Within 24 hours I had a day off and a Rendez Vous with a dealer that had a Mini Cooper.
My wife just fell in love with the Mini and I had her convinced! With just 3 years of slowly brain washing her I was successful in getting what I wanted..... BUT DID I GO TOO FAR?

My plan backfired! Now we are still getting a Mini, but now I have to SHARE!?!? Now its HER Mini?!?! Now I get to drive around in a Van while she drives the Mini?!?!

All is good though, joking aside I am happy that we are getting one and that we will both share the experience together and will both have a passion in common.

Test drives can be DANGROUS! Let me be the first to say, CONGRATS on your new Mini..... Cuz we all know your going to get one once you get out of your testdrive!

Kirk.

Haha, I went for my second one this past Friday. I went in to look at options before I order at the end of the month, and then the MA asked if I wanted to test drive one again. Heck yeah! I had to convince myself not to order one there on the spot.
