How Many MINIs Did You See Today?

Post all MINI sightings that you see in one twenty-four hour day. Rules:

-- How many in EACH 24 hours, can be less than 24 hours. YOU CAN POST FOR EACH DAY THAT YOU WANT.
-- Your city or town

--What you were doing in general [e.g. to and from work, going to the store, on a road trip.]

--No double counting [e.g., can't count the same MINI twice, on the way to, and from, for example.] Only MINIs you actually see [ones parked out of sight don't count, e.g., that you know are parked in garages.]

-- Any additional details you want to share.

I thought this would be entertaining [and interesting] to see what comes up in which towns.

I'll go first in next post.

Bonus Tip - You can keep track for one twenty-four hour day, but that would drive me nuts in this town, trying to remember how many I saw in one day.

20 Seen on August 16, 2008 - 1.5 Hour Bike Ride

20 MINIs.

San Francisco

August 16, 2008, 7:00 PM to about 8:30 PM

Only counted MINIs seen while on my road bike ride, about a 1.5 hours - 20 miles roundtrip.

All but one parked. [Those parked look like local owner cars.]

Only one convertible.

Mostly S.

Too many colors to remember, but PW, CR, HB, Black, Orange, Yellow, four to five Silver.

3 MINIs on a daily basis. Different ones usually. Today, haven't left the house yet, but yesterday:

1. Pharmacy vinyl-wrapped Mini. (Used to be PW before they wrapped it)
2. PW/B Mini
3. An old light blue Mini...I'm guessing Hyper Blue? (Unfamiliar with the old colors)

I'm in Fort Smith, AR. The MINI numbers are increasing!

I counted a total of 3 MINIs from 2:00 P.M. yesterday until 2:00 P.M. I passed by all of these MINIs doing errands and just driving my new MINI -- I picked him up yesterday. I waved at all three drivers, but unfortunately I didn't receive any return waves. I live in Newtown, PA

I still don't have mine yet (still on order), but now I am looking for them as I drive. When going to work I see maybe 1 or 2. During an entire weekend I see less than 6 usually. I think most of the reasons are the closest dealer is 25 miles away, and from the people I talk to when I tell them I have a Mini on order; they always ask why I ordered a toy car, and that I'm going to hate it. I usually smile and blow them off

I saw at least 6 MINI's today. All MC/MCS - no clubmans!

And of course those people who don't have a MINI are in the best position to tell others about what they will or will not like.

Query: Are the people saying that to you then hopping into their gas guzzling, energy wasting SUVs?

Not where I live, but last week we drove to Santa Fe, NM, and in the space of 2 hours near the Plaza saw 8 MINIs, including 2 that were PW/PW like mine. Even better---all but 2 of the 8 waved back!!! Per capita, Santa Fe might just be the MINI capital of the U.S.

I think I want to move there.

About 10 pm driving back to garage, saw 5 MINIs at once, two on one side of the block, three on the other. All pretty much directly across the street from each other.

That seems a lot.

Lots. When I got my first MINI in the fall of 2005 there seemed to be lots less of them around here. Three years later, they're ubiquitous here in central hip and trendy Houston. (That's inside the loop for the locals) Further out in the burbs there are lots less, you could probably go a day without seeing another one still.

Driving home from work yesterday (or was it it Saturday? I can't remember), there were two MINIs ahead of me (1 pure silver, one dark silver (didn't see if it was an R53 or R56), and then a third (BRG) joined the line coming off a parking space. If I had my MINI yet , that would have been 4 in a row going down the road.

Will have to count tomorrow on my way in to work. Usually I lose track (it's an average of 12-20, including one of the 3 solid gold's I know from my city travels).

Did see a blue classic Mini this morning being pushed into a new parking space by two guys.

Spent Friday night and a good chunk of Saturday in San Francisco. On Saturday I'd say we also saw 20 or so MINIs and one Mini. (The badging said "Austin Cooper S"). My wife and I were stunned by how many MINIs there are in San Francisco.

Four in the past 24 hours; a 1st Gen. CR/B coupe on the highway, a 2nd Gen. CR/W coupe and 2nd Gen. CR/W S on the way home from the Park N Ride, and a CR/B Clubman parked on my block.

Drove from Gatlinburg, TN to the Highlands, NC and saw 2 Minis on NC 64 out of Franklin, NC. The road is just about as much fun to drive as the Tail of the Dragon. We drove over there to eat at "The Rib Shack" whose ribs are second only to "The Salt Lick" in Texas. I had a Mini following me for a while on the way back to Franklin but he may not have driven the route before as I left him far, far behind.

About 21 today, including ours. That's in about 1/2 an hour of driving to and from work, with a bit of tootling around. MINIs were a little thin on the ground today.
