Can't believe I can't buy this... I love it.

I was just about to buy this and realized it probably won't work with my JCW spoiler on the rear hatch.

That sucks, I really thought it was cool.

Ahhhhh, secret my friend.... secret.

LOL, seriously, Mini Mania, $379

SteveB625 Jul 27, 2008 05:26 AM

That is the neatest car cover I have ever seen! Too bad its almost $400 and it really seems like it would be for indoor use/occasional outdoor use.

CR&PW&JB Jul 27, 2008 05:32 AM

Cute, yes. But I would not recommend it.

I bought two car covers. One from MINI Mania (their highest rated cover) and one from a company called Bavarian Autosport.

Day and night difference. MINI Mania's cover lets in rain, it doesn't fit as well, and it cost MORE.

If you want cute... buy that one. If you want functional, stay away.

And I'm not a MINI Mania basher. I've bought lots of things from them and love everything else. Just not their cover.

I do, I do.... BUT for the times I want to keep it somewhat clean, a want a cover.

I ordered the cover today anyways. They told me it should still fit with the wing so I ordered it and we'll see what kind of quality it is.

I agree, Mark. You can't drive it ALL the time.

And if you can't garage it, the cover is the next best thing. I love washing it, putting the cover on, and then uncovering it 5 days later and it still looks beautiful. Without a cover, it would be a mess sitting outside. (and this is the Jet Black one I'm talking about. :impatient:

Well, I bought one of those "covered garages" (you know the powderedcoated pipes with a tarp for the top and sides)

I keep it in my garage at night but during the day at the bodyshop, he stays in this covered garage.

But when we go somewhere out of town, I'd rather him be covered...

As long as the quality is decent, I'll be happy.

I highly recommend the cover from Bavarian Autosport.

http://www.bavauto.com/shop.asp

Their "Ultimate Car Cover" is on sale right now... $154. I paid $179 and it was worth every penny at that price.

orangecrush Jul 28, 2008 05:32 PM

I absolutely know that there are much better covers for less money. But I'm a sucker for cool stuff so I'm hoping it's decent quality.

If I don't like it, I can send it back and I'll be sure to buy that one.

Thanks for the link.

So, which one are you buying ? I thought you couldn't get the one you talked about in the first post.

x uh oh x Jul 28, 2008 05:43 PM

Just gotta add my two cents, even though CR&PW&JB has a better cover. This is my car cover! It's an inside cover, though. Good luck!

I spoke to Ken at Minimania and he said that it should still fit even with the JCW wing.

If it doesn't or isn't good quality, then I'll return it and buy the other one.

I like the zippered one too.

Excellent. Yeah, if it rains through that cover or if you get dust particles on your car with the cover on... send it back. You don't want any moisture to get under the cover, nor do you want any tiny grit or dirt under there, it'll mar your paint.

orangecrush Jul 28, 2008 06:41 PM

Yeah, I've read the description and nowhere does it say it's waterproof.... however, it doesn't say it isn't.

I'm not expecting it to be a high quality outside cover but I'm hoping it's at least waterproof.
