I HATE the phrase "justacooper"!
Not necessarily true.....the One is actually a de-tuned Cooper. From the factory they would have the exact same performance.....but MINI has put a restriction on the ECU to limit the HP to receive better insurance rates. The second you remove the restriction, the cars are exactly the same (besides the possible roof color and a few chrome pieces).
Might be a matter or sport vs not sport and the different sway options that are available.
If straight line acceleration was what I was looking for, then yes, I would have bought an S. Since it wasn't, then for me the extra "performance" is not a trade-up.
It all depends on what you want...and that's what's cool about this car...something for MANY (not all!) people!

i actually love the term...justacooper.
<....>
I wish the S had a cool nickname like that..or maybe they do and I'm just a noob at finding things.
All in all, its the twisty roads that show what a car (and its driver) are really made of. Justacooper's are VERY capable of holding their own, even to their 'older' siblings

SuperCooper
Different strokes... but never look down on any...
and Envy is really unhealthy for your happiness.
My twenty year old Turbo LeBaron was not only a lot more fun to drive than its Non-Turbo sibling LeBaron, but had a higher MPG rating as well.
For that car, Turbo was needed, but I don't feel that way at all about my Cooper.
Names can't really help ego.
I suggest Cooper.
If you own an S, then, Cooper S.
Sometimes I envy Coopers on fast runs because they are having fun making it happen whereas, for me, the supercharger is having fun. Doesn't matter so much what gear I'm in.
I had an empathetic experience when I had Cooper tires and wheels on my Cooper S and was cranking through the Western Dragon, catching up with the crew after having stopped to water a tree. There was another S behind me whose driver commented, at a later social event, that my tires sure were skinny and I terrified him.
I'm not sure what he meant but I was glad it wasn't a woman talking to me like that. I'm especially glad it wasn't my wife.
