I went to Mini of Mountain View to check on the Clubman. I then checked around for dealers that did not carry a $2500 mark-up. I found that Mini of Concord would order my car at MSSP and offered Mountain View the opportunity to match the deal. The MA checked with his manager, came back in about 3 minutes and bade me farewell. They didn't even want to discuss it. The MA added as I was leaving that I could still get my service in Mountain View. I assumed that already. Since I live in the area I was thinking that I might like to give my business to a local dealer. It didn't work out that way, but I'll have my Clubman in about a month.

While I do support union labor, there was one thing Autonation was asking for that I, as a consumer, would have to side with: Service on Saturdays. It's something you just have to do to get a client base. Something they're losing big time.

The whole attitude of that place needs a complete make over, however.

We were in MoMV today, getting Shawn's Window treatment and etching, it was totally dead. They have a sign saying they're only doing emergency work. We'd made the appointment 2 weeks ago before we went away, we only heard about the strike yesterday in the local paper.

I'm not liking this at all, we'd got really good service from MoMV, and it sounds like things are going to go downhill now. I'm wondering if writing a (paper) letter to Autonation would do any good.

I've had no trouble with MoMV either. Great service the 3 times I've been in after delivery!

I always got great service from MoMV, which is why I really feel for the strikers ... the people who provided that service.

We got even better service from East Bay MINI, which we never would have experienced had it not been for this work stoppage. They're sure putting in the extra effort to win customers from MoMV...and it's working.

Couldn't agree more. Went over to East Bay Mini and was well looked after by the team there. It's a bit of a hike for me, but definitely worth it to avoid supporting a company that's just not "my kind of people"

On another note, I should have listened to that voice in my head about MoMV - I've spent two separate 45 min sessions in the BMW wing next door looking to buy previously and never had anyone come over and ask me if they could help (one guy was too busy browsing Craigslist).

Looks like we've found a new dealer for future purchases and factory maintenance. Still, recommendations/names/contact for those who do quality local work (perhaps a MINI of Mountain View team member doing some side work) is much appreciated.
Hi, I work at a small shop in Santa Clara, and we do work on MINIs. I used to work at MOMV, and have left due to working conditions. My technician is factory trained on BMW and Ferrari, and has already worked on several MINI's in this area. If anyone would like, I am reachable at 408-296-2166. Cheers!

I don't have any experience with MoMV - since they don't have Saturday service and the latest appointment time they'll book during the week is 10:30 A.M., they're pretty much useless to me.

I went to East Bay instead when my car came due for "Inspection I", and I couldn't be happier. Dropped the car off, took advantage of their free shuttle service to take me to a local mall to kill some time, they picked me up at the mall about two hours later, and I was on my way. I'll definitely be going back to East Bay for anything else my car needs, even if I could get an appointment with MoMV.

I have to wonder if anyone "official" from MofMV is monitoring these posts. It might be valueable to their business plan.

Mini of MV

Just passed by there during lunch today and they are still on strike, some of the workers are still carrying signs.

I read yesterday that the two sides are going back to the baraining table. I also saw the picket line this afternoon. It's consistent for the union to picket while negotiations are underway.

Mountain View Mini can go to hell. Each time I've gone back to norcal to visit my family, I drop by there bc I've been shopping for a Mini S. Of the 5 times I've gone there the past year, no one has ever come up to me and helped. Of those 5 times, only once was I actually able to find someone on the dealership floor. And when you finally get to talking to them, they're arrogant and useless.

Why anyone would buy from them is beyond me. I've made my decision to buy my mini in socal.

Sounds like dunce11r feels passionate about his experience at MoMV. Perhaps the choice of words was a bit harsh, but I can see the point. I have not received much attention while visiting the business and it can be alienating to got to check out the cars and not have anyone attend to you (although in some ways it's better than having some sleazy salesguy jump on you and do the hard sell). I live very close to MofMV and ended up buying from a dealer in concord where I have never been. I went with the best deal. I hope to get decent service in M.V.

If I don't get decent service there after giving them a try, it's on to East Bay or Concord.

I've been there about a dozen times. Test drive, order, delivery, service, etc. Every time I had no issues with anyone or the way I was treated. Maybe I have just been lucky, but it may depend more on the attitude you take when you walk through the door.

Its a low pressure sales environment, usually people complain about being bugged incessantly at car dealerships. If its important enough we've been able to track someone down so we could buy 4 MINIs from them.

My Mini went into limp mode and I hobbled into SF Mini on Saturday. They were not able to look at it yet because they said that they have been extremely busy because of the strike. They did give me a rental and hoped (but not promised) to look at it tomorrow. A Dodge Magnum is definitely no Mini! I'm not driving a car, I'm navigating a cruise ship!! I sure hope they resolve this soon!

meh... gotta start posting somewhere right? I wanted to post about mt view a long time ago on the other mt. view thread, but this site wouldnt unlock the account for over a week... so i gave up.

ive been planning on buying a mini, ultimately waited for the JCW... but even this one is now a disappointment to me. I guess i'll have to wait till the refresh. Hopefully the pressure from Alfa will finally make mini think twice about increasing the displacement.
