Worst thing you've had to wash off your MINI?

I was on my way back from San Antonio to Houston, when traffic came to a sudden crawl...it was too late to take the exit. I had to inch forward with everyone else.

It turns out an 18 wheeler had lost his load all over all lanes. Police were letting only one lane pass, so it took forever to get through. As I got closer to the accident, I began to notice a terrible smell. I noticed the road covered in a slippery brown sludge a few inches thick. Needless to say, it got all over the tires, the MINI, everywhere. Even worse, I still had to drive 3 hours to get home.

Where I promptly washed my MINI, twice!

I don't know how to link directly to the video, but you can go here and click on the first video " 18-wheeler flips spilling sewage across highway"

That definately stinks!

srmach05 May 10, 2008 09:56 AM

Wow, I really don't think that can be topped.

Sounds like a good name for a soap opera;
"As the Honey-Wagon Rolls"

I loaned my MINI, COOOOOP, to a friend who was in from out of town. She had him for about 4 days. I made sure that he was full of Premium Gaz and that the interior and exterior were nearly spotless when she came for him.

When she returned him to me I was verrrry disappointed. She had parked COOOOOP under a tree that housed what must have been several hundred hog-sized birds. She had run the windshield washer to clean (no, smear) the front glass and every surface on him was COVERED with bird dung. It was NASTY!! Every color in the rainbow - like a 3-D work of art! Fortunately, he had a fresh coat of wax so there was no serious damage done!! Needless to say, the next time she asked to borrow him I told her NO!!!

To her credit, she did fill the gaz tank...

Other than bird dung, I can't top sewage either. Incredible.

Yuk. No way to have avoided that except to have better luck.

Some things don't wash off.

Also I know of another Audi owner that was on the way to return a few cans of unused paint. The lids were on a little to loosely and the Audi was a little to quick in the corners. On arrival the owner found the trunk to be newly painted. Total mess.:eek2::no:

I had to wash Camel spit off the hood and Camel dung off the floor mats. I was working on the Camel shed at the MN zoo a while back and had the distinct pleasure of coming face to face with the Camels. It wasn't as bad as people poo though!

Nasty stains.

I hit a deer, ugh!
The MINI had Zaino on it,
and the clean up was an outside job.
Now, for the body work...

Arthuralda May 10, 2008 02:19 PM

robbybee May 10, 2008 09:36 PM

Have pics of the incident?

kyriian May 11, 2008 07:15 AM

the worst i hit was a dead rat... without making people totally throw up, it ran across the road on the highway.... i heard a thunk, didn't think much of it, went to eat with my track friends. after eating... i saw a weird tail sticking out from between the splitter and the bumper...

long story short... it came out in 2 pieces, tail first when i grabbed it bare hand, then the body came out after i grabbed my gloves

needless to say. went home and washed the splitter.... for a good 15 minutes,

Ewwww...Dead rat. Guess it ate more than bugs, eh?

In my '04 MCS, I hit a deer at night on a back road in Germany going around some twisties (of COURSE I was moving at a good pace!) What I didn't realize is that digested grass...is still green and guacamole-like. The only way I realized I'd hit it instead of just clipped it was when a spray of green eewwww suddenly appeared on the windshield. I'm really not very squeemish, but I had to have the politzei scrape it off the license plate for me coz I just couldn't bring myself to do it! The only damage was a punched-in license plate and I had to plug the plastic of the grill back into place.

Poor Bambi. Of course I washed about three times, but the name "Deerslayer" stuck - and now transferred to the new owner.

Bug droppings. The yellow kind . The crusty stuff washed off easy enough but the remainder stained the white paint on the top of my Mini. I had to actually use mild rubbing compound to get the yellow stain out. Wonder what those bugs ate?

x uh oh x May 12, 2008 08:07 AM

BUG droppings or BIRD droppings?? WOW those must be big bugs!!

I also hate those giant bugs that sound like boulders crashing against the windshield...And then I find them in the grill, just like kyriian's rat tail!

Mishka May 12, 2008 09:15 AM

Frogs-a bunch of them.

Driving home from Memphis one night we drove by numerous rice fields. At night the frogs come out of the fields to go hunting, and I guess they think the field on the other side of the road has better bugs. The frogs were all over the road, at times you could feel the tires kind of slip because of all the frogs.

We got home late at night, so I didn't notice it, but the front had a bunch of frogs stuck to (and in) the lower grill and on the bumper.

miminut May 12, 2008 09:16 AM

Hit skunk

The damn thing was running across the road and must have jumped. It hit the lower mesh grill and stuck there, ugh! The car reeked all the way home. I had to pry it out and discard it in the field a ways away, gag. Lower mesh screen had to be replaced.

Son puked in the Clubman (mostly in Moms hat) after coming off the Dragon on our way home from MOTD 08. Hope that's the worst of the cleanup. Good thing we got the rubber mats.

theWING May 12, 2008 02:54 PM

I was doing probably 70 on the road near my house (its 2 lanes, fairly wide, and out in the country so nearly deserted) when a bird flew in front of the car. I was only about a mile from the house so I decided to just get home before I looked. When I got home... sure enough... the bird had managed to hit right on the intercooler intake scoop. I was picking bird pieces and guts and washing blood off the inside of my engine bay and out of my intercooler.

I don't think anyone is going to be able to top sprung's run in with the sewage!

speedyclyde May 12, 2008 03:04 PM

Not in the Mini, but wehn in Hawaii after a rain storm, had same as Mishka, Frogs all over the road, could hear them pop as you hit them, was extremely disgusting!

Glad it was a rental, and I didn't have to wash it off! but don't think that tops sewage or deer innards.
