Howdy and Gig'em

Now that I might have the attention of any MINI owner in Aggieland I need some help please. My son is a soph at A&M, drives a MINI and is, uhmm, shall I say basically clueless when it comes to cars and what goes wrong under the hood. He calls me when something might be wrong which doesn't work when I am a couple hours away. Are there any local shops that you recommend for emergenies or non-warrenty issues? Would any of you be willing to guide him along when he has questions?
Thanks
Christie

Well, I think the son needs to become a member in here, or the local club. Might also be a good idea to get him the Bentley Press Mini Cooper repair manual to he can familiarize himself with his car.

He and I are both members of MetroplexMini but due to his schedule and being in the Corps at A&M his time to surf the net is limited. He is also a member of the A&M sports car club but no other MINIs there.

Bump....I know there are some members out there in the B/CS area.

A clueless Aggie? Hmm...Nah, too easy! Seriously though, I can't imagine there wouldn't be some serious gearheads among all the engineering students there.

Dang, I did leave the door open there, thanks for being nice. There are serious gearheads there but just not MINI people.

Christie,

I ran a quick search for BMW repair in College Station and came up with one link for you. They apparently repair European autos and do show a MINI on their main page.

Have you thought about posting your question in the HMMS part of the Metro MINI forum? Houston's a bit closer to Bryan/CS, so maybe they know of somewhere.

Good luck! :)

I think by "gig'em" you mean "hook 'em"

Not sure if there are any specific shops local to B/CS, but hopefully later this year, the MINI dealership in Austin will open, which might be a faster drive or tow for him, if in the event he needs it.

mom2jmg Feb 14, 2008 06:21 PM

Austin's an nice city it's just that other school there that puts a blemish on it . Actually they're both good schools it's just our family bleeds maroon. Back to topic, wouldn't Mow be closer?

And thanks Sara, I didn't post on the MM board because I have seen some B/CS people post here and not on MM. Besides James might not like me letting the world know he is clueless when it comes to what's under the bonnet. The place that you mention did leave a flyer on his car. Was hoping to get some feedback for them or others.

There's another guy on NAM who's in Bryan or College Station. His posting name is AA1A, or something like that. He bought his car a couple of months after I did. Anyone remember who he is?

daffodildeb Feb 15, 2008 01:53 PM

Hey--he posted today! He's 4XAAA. Why don't you drop him a PM? Tell him daffodildeb on Lake Conroe sent 'ya!
