Nice JCW But That's Nuts

Nice MCS, but for almost $50 large, your sports car options are wide open.

Dude, thats Lotus territory. I'd so rather have a Lotus than a MCS for $50k

And if you are willing to go slightly used, say just off a 2-year lease, the list is endless. Sign me up for a M3.

SB Nov 23, 2007 04:17 PM

I wonder if they'll be offering a discount on it this time next year.

coolingfin Nov 23, 2007 06:50 PM

Its hard to understand how anyone would want that MINI rather than a moderately optioned 2008 MCS with $25K cash in the glove box!

kyriian Nov 23, 2007 07:31 PM

it is pricey for a mini, but because they know it wont move anytime soon, go in now, give them a low offer and see if the dealership is desperate enough to let it go...

Think so, sense they'll still have it...

Crashton Nov 24, 2007 05:34 AM

Wow, a fella could have 2 very nice MCS' for that money.

My guess is that they are trolling for a big fish.

Gromit801 Nov 25, 2007 01:48 PM

The list of stuff on there, is mostly the standard equipment. Talk about over doing it. There's isn't squat in that list to justify the price.

cucho Nov 25, 2007 01:55 PM

That dealership people got a be crazy if they are thinking someone is going to pay almost 50 K for MCS!!:impatient

daffodildeb Nov 25, 2007 02:40 PM

But it's got cupholders! Two in front, one in the rear. Does YOURS have that? Snicker.

Brihyanna Nov 25, 2007 05:55 PM

"Pre-wired for alarm"
hmm... just like every other MINI. What's that, an extra $600ish for labor and parts to get the actual alarm. (install it yourself, much cheaper and super easy)

kgdblu Nov 25, 2007 06:37 PM

highway robbery..I hope no-one buys it..ever. That dealership is dreamin'.

D3m0N Nov 25, 2007 06:40 PM

It has 3 sets of Rims?

Yucca Patrol Nov 25, 2007 06:43 PM

You'd think you;d get the nav system at that price.

I have to admit, I didn't care for reading this thread. Since I ordered a 2008 MCS thats jacked up there in cost -- and no, I wouldn't want a Lotus or M3 over the MCS 'vert that I ordered. I think what I ordered is nicer than the one Prestige has here - each to their own I suppsoe.

Thats what I said. Do they even think to read through what they post on their website?

Mine's BETTER! It has THREE cupholders in front, and one in back!

Somethings messed up with that listing. The car is listed with:

City 27/Hwy 34 (1.6l Turbocharged Engine/6-speed Auto Trans)
City 29/Hwy 36 (1.6l Turbocharged Engine/6-speed Manual Trans)

Not possible to have both the manual and auto transmission in the car. Somehow the car is entered wrong; doubtful the real price of the car is ACTUALLY that high.

JIMINNI Nov 26, 2007 09:29 AM

Yea they must have messed up. I just drove a 08 JCW, brand new this weekend and they only wanted 28k for it. BTW, wasn't near as fast as the new Mazdaspeed3 that I also drove.

I TOLD YOU THE MAZDASPEED3 WAS FAST.;

And they are cheap, $23,700. But still a wagon .

So are telling us that the mazdaspeed3 would be a better buy for the spirited driver than the MCS:cry: ?. According to a review I read on Roundel (BMW magazine) the Mazdaspeed is faster but it does not communicate/handle as well as the MCS. I guess I will have to go and test drive one and check it out for myself

I guy I work with has a mazdaspeed 3. We trade rides sometimes and although it is lightning fast there is lots not to like. Long shift throws and a generally muddy transmission. Cheap feeling plastic all over the cockpit. Really unsupportive and unsturdy feeling seats. Looks like a freaking Pontiac Vibe!!! There are only like 3 or 4 colors to choose from which are all pretty unimaginative. goes straight quickly but get it on the twisties and my MCS blows it away. Its not even close in my opinion... mcs is much more exciting to drive! It is a good value though... easily bought for under 20K

No I didn't say that . It is fast though. It did not feel as connected to the road as my Mini. but is was not to bad. Motor Trend did a comparison of the Mazda and a 06 Subie WRX, here are some coments:

Through the slalom, the WRX posted a speed of 63.4 mph, well behind the Mazda's 68.6, a pace that betters that of the BMW 330i, Infiniti G35, and Jaguar XK. Around our figure-eight course, a telling test of handling and braking, the WRX clocked a time of 27.1 sec at 0.64 g average, again no match for the 3's 26.6-second at 0.69g average. Circumnavigating the skidpad, the Mazda held on for 0.86 g of lateral grip--better than that of a Lexus IS 350--

Interesting, but it's still a family looking wagon .
