Rear cargo light fuse and passenger airbag light

I inadvertently blew fuse F16 while trying to find an unswitched 12V source in the trunk area. I didn't have a spare fuse so I was going to head out to pick up a few. When I started the car I immediately got an airbag light. I scanned the car and found error code 93d2. I noticed that the passenger airbag light on the overhead console was out. Once I replaced the fuse that light came back on. I cleared the code and the red airbag light went out.

I was a bit surprised that a fuse for convenience lighting would cause an airbag fault indication.

The same thing happened to me: I shorted the 12V supply to the interior trunk light and the F16 fuse blew. The next time the key was entered, error 93d2 was thrown. Only after the fuse was replaced could the error be cleared.

While the error was present, it showed a "Frequency" count of 1. In a german forum someone posted that the ECU will only allow 3 airbag errors to be thrown. Afterwards the ECU has to be replaced in order to clear the error. I wonder:

1. Is it indeed the case that there is a limit of "clearable" airbag errors?
2. If so, does the ECU differentiate between different "causes", i.e. does blowing the interior light fuse indeed count towards that limit?
