Spark Plug Gap

Hello,

New here and just bought a 2011 Countryman S. Love it so far. 50k miles on the clock. Plan on changing the spark plugs and ordered the BERU 12ZR6SPP2-1. My question is what are we supposed to gap the plugs at? Can't seem to find the info anywhere. I love doing all my own maintenance and look forward to learning from you guys.

Ryan

.035in .9 mm as I recall, plugs should be pre-gapped. 17 ft lbs torque.

High Power Platinum Spark plug original replacement for the Cooper S. Brands may vary depending on the supply from Mini - it appears they are transitioning from Beru to Champion (March 2016).

Pre-gapped at 0.7mm (0.0275 inch)

see also http://new.minimania.com/Mini_Cooper...lication_Guide

same plug for all N18 .....

pay attention to notes about 'special socket' and locking extension ...... hint hint.

Platinum plugs come pre gapped IME .... I chek 'em but have not had to adjust one. If you find the need be careful ... that tip is tiny! And platinum is used to make things HARD aka hard to bend . . .

If I had ordered from MM or Way and had a doubt I'd call or e-mail and expect to get a reply quickly ... this has been my experience in the past.

I took a look at Detroit Tuned and their site mentions "all plugs come pre-gapped"
http://www.detroittuned.com/spark-plugs-gen-2/
but also says "We will have an N18 plug available shortly."

***************
modern plugs are A LOT different from what I use in the 79 ....

New member here ...and just HAD to change my plugs today. Jumped in my 2011 Mini Cooper S Countryman All4, and she was shaking and sputtering all over the damn place. Hooked up my BAFX Bluetooth ODBII plug, and fired up Torque HD Pro on my phone, and BAM! ...multiple miss fires on all four cylinders. I needed to drive today, so a quick jaunt over to Pep Boys (within walking distance), for some regular old Champion Copper Plus 445's, and she's running normal again. Thanks for your posts, and links, as they provided the exact info I needed to gap and torque my plugs correctly. Unfortunately the Champion plugs had the larger 6-point 16mm nut, which still installed okay, but it did take a couple of tries after that socket didn't wanna come back out without coming off of the extension multiple times ...low and behold, by this afternoon I will be a proud owner of some locking extensions to forgo this type of fiasco in the future
