Smile Hello from Illinois.Help if you can!

I Love Minis!I had a 2005 mini,Which i sold in2008.Reason?After warranty up I couldnt find anyone around here to fix it!Or that would even try!The only place around here,So called Import experts, after having my mini, when returned more wrong, than before they worked on it!I live in Central IL.My heart aches to buy another, but wont until i can find someone in this vicinity to repair after warranty is up.Not feasible for me to have to go to Chicago,or St Louis for repairs. If anyone can help I would appreciate it! Can't give you a specific, but in Colorado, I take my car to a generic mechanic, and they fix 99%+ of all problems. Just try calling around, check the car talk referral page, and see who will work on Minis! One bad experience with a 3rd-party mechanic doesn't mean they are all bad...

Man that sucks. Personally I would just look at a domestic car. Yes, any mechanic can do many of the
repairs you might run into, but not all and I would rather have a certified Mini repairman doing any work
on my Countryman. It just doesn't seem worth the hassles you may run into to
have a Mini, heartbreaking as it is.

What about the first three years? You drive to the dealership for service during that period. A hassle that lasts three years can be gotten used to - and its a great drive being that it is in a MINI.

You don't have an Import Car Mechanic that you trust?...especially working on German cars.

I would opt for the 5 year or 100,000 mile warrenty and i though if it is under warrenty they would send for a tow or flat bed truck to pick it up and bring it in for service and give you a lonner care to drive while your's is being fixed i remebering reading about some other people on here with the same prob.

I looked up the Mechanic using Yahoo Search and a Map...

How about a MINI Club in Chicago, Eastern Iowa, or Western Indiana? They should have plenty members, who live around you...not all members live in Chicago...they could live in Champagn...you could talk to them...

Joining a club...you make friends...who know where the mechanics are at.
