2010 JCW Purchase

I could use some advice on the purchase of a 2010 JCW 6 speed. This is a factory JCW with approximately 76k on the odometer. All service is up-to-date. The car is at a Mini dealership approx. 2 1/2 hrs from my house so all correspondence has been done by phone or email and text.

The dealership is asking $9900 for the car and they have added PermaPlate to the interior and exterior and they want another $748 for the warranty on this product that I am not interested in. Add in a $799 Dealer Fee that is common here in Florida and the OTD price with tax and tags is a little over 12k.

My question is do you think this is a good value? I understand it's hard to say without looking at the car but what issues can I expect on a 9 yr old car with 76k. I am a snowbird so the car will have about 5k a yr on the odometer as I am here only 6 months a year.

Thanks in advance for your answers.

I wouldn't buy any interior or exterior protection stuff as you can usually find cheaper or better products to do the same thing.

I also think that dealer doc fee is outrageous as some states have laws on how much it can be, but have also seen $500 doc fees, $799 is crazy and is a neg point as that is just pure dealer profit.

What about warranty? Is there an inspection showing no leaks and such? How about they put it on a lift and let you confirm before you leave with it?

As Way mentioned, I would never purchase nor pay for any interior/exterior protection stuff from a dealer. For $750, you could have the car completely paint corrected and ceramic coated.

I also looked up the car in question online. Quite easy to locate considering there’s not a lot of 2010 JCWs for sale in Florida. It seems like a decent car, but not for 12k. If you were able to negotiate the price down to 9k or less and avoid the exterior/interior protection you would be slightly over 10k OTD. For 12k, there’s better cars available.

You might want to increase your search radius when looking. A lot of dealerships don’t have that crazy dealership fee and shipping a car or flying to pick up a car and drive it back isn’t that expensive.
