Traction Control on even after it's off?

I turn that crap off, however, when I try to get some extra squeal at a red light but it just kicks back in after a few inches...

Am I just going to have to turn my douche bag-ness down?

Are you getting traction control or running afoul of the rev limiter?

Definitely traction control or some other driver inhibiting device, since I'll be at like 5500rpm when it kicks in.

Perhaps crappier tires might help?

Are you just hitting the button, or are you doing the hold down for 3 sec with the button? Its still on with the first way but just kicking in just a little later than with it completely on.

it actually requires 2 steps to turn off all the traction aids

1. press and release the DSC button - DSC OFF lights up on speedo and "traction" is displayed in tach under the digital speed

2. press and hold DSC button (3-5 seconds) - DSC OFF remains lite on speedo and "DSC OFF" is displayed in tach under digital speed and a yellow triangle with exclamation point is displayed to the right of the miles on bottom display in tach

after step 2, the traction aids are off, except ABS is still active and the eLSD seems to still be active

i have spun my cms all4 in a wet parking lot after step 2

It can be done in a single step. You can do your Step 2 without doing Step 1. Thats how I always do it.

I just clicked it once. Will try the the other trick today though.

It goes off an stays off when I get to stage 2 off (which says DSC off in the tach). It stays off in extreme circumstances like on the track.

A couple of points.

The electronic diff only works with DSC fully off.

Secondly, no matter what you do DSC is never fully off in this car. It will intervene in extreme circumstances. However, the DSC in these circumstances is not costing you lap times, it is just attempting to save your life and save panel damage.

Not sure that is accurate because when I autocross with it completely off I never feel it engage, and I push the car very hard.

Have you ever been sideways over bumps on a very wet road at 120mph with the steering wheel pointed in one direction and the car in another?? I have been in that circumstance (in a closed road rally), and there is definitely something that works under the most extreme circumstances even when DSC is fully off.

If you want to argue with me thats fine, but I can guarantee there is a failsafe that cuts in in the most dire circumstances.

See this thread which contains reported confirmation from MINI that DSC can NOT be completely turned off:
