It's Here

My new 2011 JCW arrived at the dealership this morning, just 36 days from when order was placed. I went in to inspect it and closed the deal with the sweet 0.9% MFS rate. I even took it for a quick spin around the block, it had 3 miles on the clock when I started it up, I took it up to 10. I couldn't take it home as it's going out next week to have a custom leather interior installed, but assuming all goes well, I should take delivery by Thursday or Friday next week. This is my fourth MINI and second factory JCW, I guess you can tell I like these cars. I know what I like and use and what I don't so this one's pretty simple: Eclipse Gray/Red, no sunroof, sport suspension, xenons, Harman Kardon, Ipod/Bluetooth, interior satellite gray color line/chili red. The latter does a really good job of breaking up what could be a pretty dark interior, the satellite gray is pretty light, and the door/dash trim is BRIGHT! I was sold on the leather before I placed my order, there's a shop here in town that can basically do anything you want, and I think the look/feel/smell of it is nicer than the factory stuff. It's going to be perforated black with red background showing through, and red piping. I was there for a couple of hours but forgot to snap even a cellphone pic, so I'll make sure to get some when I pick it up.

You know, I didn't pay that close of attention this time to my timeline, but I think it takes roughly a week for the boat to get here, then offloaded, all of mine have come through Charleston. My dealer told me his manifest said it was offloaded on 11/21, the arrived on the truck in Houston on 11/26. The last truck part I'm sure varies on how far you are from the coast.

The leather job didn't take as long as expected so my car actually made it back to the dealer last night and I was able to take delivery this afternoon. It was a gloriously sunny 65 degree day in Houston. Not sure the pictures will show it, but the leather is stunning! Here's a few pics. The last one is my new parked next to my old one.

Adios old friend.

So you swiped the scoop from your old pal to put on your new pal? That looks almost completely like the one I have on order. EG/CR

biggripper Dec 1, 2010 03:50 PM

Definitely would love some better pics of your custom leather.

Haha, you noticed. I took delivery of the old one with a carbon scoop and the red one had been put away safely. I didn't think the carbon one would look good on the dark gray but I KNEW the red one would so we swapped it out in the showroom. Now I've got the gray one stashed away.

Looks pretty sharp. Any stripes planned, or are you gonna leave her naked?

Not a stripe guy. In fact this is my first (of four) MINI's to have a contrasting roof...and only because red looks so cool!

Your 2011 JCW scoop was Caron Fiber? Stock or option?

biggripper Dec 1, 2010 04:07 PM

It does look pretty cool.

The red one on the 2011 is the one that came stock on the 2009. The carbon one on the 2009 is a JCW accessory available at you MINI dealer. They threw it in for free on the '09, I think the MSRP now is like $325:eek2: . Any of the scoops are interchangeable on the R56's.

looks great... congrats

MINIGEZR Dec 3, 2010 10:04 AM

Congrats, awesome looking JCW. I like the red scoop. My JCW is being detailed and I may drive it home tonight or wait till Monday for the tint to be installed.
