Couldn't wait for 2011s, pulled the trigger.
I know, I know, the 2011s will be slightly redesigned and have an updated engine, but due to circumstances I couldn't wait that long. Therefore I walked into my local Mini dealer and placed an order for a 2010 JCW.
Here's the details: Dark Silver with Black Roof/Mirrors White Turn Signals Cold Weather Package Premium Package Xenon Headlights Rear Fog Lights Black.Grey Leatherette Seats Chrome Line Interior Piano Black Interior Surface Bluetooth and USB/iPod Adapter JCW Aero Kit JCW Sport Suspension JCW Steering Wheel JCW Strut Brace JCW Drilled Rotors JCW Side Scuttles Driving Lamps Black Sports Stripes Now I just have to figure out how to pass the time for the weeks until it arrives. Thanks to those of you here that answered my questions. |
Nice build out and color. Although I am partial to Laser Blue . I would ditch the JCW strut bar. There are better ones out there for less and the drilled rotors are just bling. Actually both are just bling.
Is the dealer installing all the JCW parts? If so they are robbing you blind on labor. Call them up and tell them you want the Vehicle Distribution Center (VDC) to add all that stuff on when it hits port in the US. They will do a better job and it will be cheaper labor wise. You want those guys to paint your JCW aero kit. I would also recommend getting a clear bra. The shape of the car leads to excessive stone chips on the bumper, bonnet and windshield. Best of luck. Post pics when you get your car. |
Yeah, my dealer is good. Everything that can be installed at the port is being installed at the port.
Yes, I'm getting the Invisishield, won't make that mistake again. |
I was in the same boat as you - I pulled the trigger - I'm sure with or without the changes, I will enjoy my MINI alot!
Nice build by the way! I wish I could have gotten some of those JCW extras you listed. Happy waiting. |

Awe dang. I'm due for nearly the same car to show up in a few weeks. Dark Silver JCW, black mirrors and roof, black racing stripes, white turn signals, JCW brakes, horizon blue interior, and I got the convenience package. No aero kit, suspension or strut bar. I'm going to take a day off work I think to go pick it up, it's going to be a neat adventure, going to take the train to within a mile of the dealership and walk the rest, then drive home and move my '85 MR2 out of the new MINI's spot in the garage.
I'll be sure and post how epic it is. Ooh, and I attached the checklist that I got here on the forums and added a few things to, like check suspension for packing material, that some dealers have forgotten to pull out. |
Congratulations... the JCW is a cool car.
I am with Onefish2 on the JCW strut bar... and the JCW sport suspension for that matter. There are much better aftermarket choices for these two options. The JCW suspension does not have ride hight adjustibility and the sport suspension is just a 18mm sway bar in the rear. Most people that opt for the sway bar go to the 19mm or 20mm aftermarket products. I have the 20mm on mine with the H&R RSS adjustable coil-over suspension. Of course these are not factory options and are not covered by warranty, but that is the dilemma with MINIs as there are some good aftermarket products out there. My next investment if the Helix intercooler and the DoS CAI system. You have a great set up though. |

I like your check list. You should add check for any visible cosmoline on the bonnet to that list. That stuff is nasty and annoying. |
The JCW suspension is great. Hey have multiple versions designed specifically for the weight of your car as built with your options and is covered by your warranty. I also thnk the price is fair for what you get. There are aftermarket options but no warranty and they reduce the market value of your car in most cases. Good decision. You will be happy with the suspenson and it is a big improvement over standard MINI suspensions even the sport version.

I also could not wait and pulled trigger on a JCW on 4/2. I was gonna do just the S but then got to test drive the JCW & decided I gotta have this. It will be a convertible in that new Interchange Yellow w/ the JCW Aero Kit.
I'd like to ask a question if I could. I saw here the recommendation of a clear bra as the shape of the mini leads to excessive stone chips on the bumper, bonnet and windshield. Folks have used these before and recommend them? My MA is having my Aero kit installed at the port. Do you think i can just have this added to the list of things to do at the port since my car has yet to even get to Southampton to begin its jurney across the pond? Are there other alternatives to Invisishield in case I can't have this added? Swiftaw, can you help set my expectations as to how much more it will cost for port to install the ($141) & ($142) aero and bonnet Invisishield kits? Appreciate any help or advice. |
The VDC does not do clear bras. The dealer will usually sub the work out to whomever they use to do their vinyl work (stripes and graphics) and window tinting. Save yourself some money and find someone in your area to do this. My car came with the Xpel clear bra on the bonnet front bumper and on the mirror caps. It was already on the car as I purchased a car that had been ordered and then sat around as the original buyer could not get financing. So I would up getting it for free.
I recently swapped the factory aero kit for the JCW aero kit. So now my front bumper is unprotected. I am having the shop that did my window tint do the clear bra on the front bumper. There are 2 ways that the film is applied to the car either from a template that is cut out or by applying the film by hand and cutting pieces out and then tucking the film in to the cracks and crevices of the car. The latter is more labor intensive but yields better results as all exposed surfaces are protected. |

Edit: Well maybe not the same packs...you could probably fit 2 MINIs inside one of those. |

I know the MSRP is about 10% over invoice. |
Just heard from the dealer that my JCW is now in the US and it may be mine before the end of the month.
|
I just ordered a 2010 JCW on the 19th. It is now scheduled for production and either week 21 or 22 it will be built. I ordered HB/BLK with a few options and got 2K off msrp. I'm happy.

Quick question if I could. What is the JCW Aero Kit II with CF Rear Diffuser? There was only one JCW Aero Kit for me to choose online when I built mine. Thanks

I did the same thing, not that thrilled with the 2011 upgrades on the exterior so I ordered a 2010 JCW DS/DS, value package, sport suspension, HK, and sirus....I did not want to wait an longer and the JCW engine isn't changing.

Congrats! From the looks of this thread MINI's selling some JCW's. Awesome! Can't wait to see all the pics. Good luck and remember...the wait IS worth it.

I was on the fence about the 2010-2011 and then 2011 changes came out. I was not crazy about the external changes but like the interior upgrades. The JCW engine did not change and they changed DS so I decided I better step up and order a 2010 JCW DS/DS before it got too late. I also was able to get the value package which was cool. It should be a fun DD...
|
I picked up my 2010 JCW on Thursday. It needs to go back next week to have them swap out the front grill surrounds for the aero-kit black ones that they forgot at the VDC.

Cool, I love the color & the brakes. I came so close to ordering that color.
Keep it clean. Ron:thumbsup: |
