Reviving this thread.... I bought my '09 last Thursday. Friday, I installed a DDM intake... the same one I had with my stage I JCW kit on my '08 MCS.

I couldn't hear a sound on the intake and I noticed I could never hear the blow-off valve.

So, I installed it Friday and WOW, I'm not much of a "seat of your pants" believer but I promise that it was a NOTICEABLE difference. Obviously, the sound was MUCH louder and you always hear the blow-off valve now but that's not the cool part.

The cool part was it was a HUGE performance difference, I couldn't believe how a simple intake could make such a difference.

Just for the record, I used the DDM intake because I installed an M7 cross brace and strut defenders and there is no way to cut up a normal intake and use it correctly.

Anyway, WELL WORTH IT!!!

Typically, I don't like open filter systems because you seem to lose a little low end torque but I swear this is a seat of your pants VERY noticeable difference.

And my DDM is a normal one, not the race version.

Like I said, I needed to cut the airfilter assy to mount my M7 bar and I sure as hell wasn't going to cut up a JCW air intake (off my Stage I kit)

The DDM worked great for me.

Can you hear BOV from inside the car with the windows UP? I can hear it fine with the windows down, but not when they're up. That's probably the biggest reason I'm wanting an intake, haha.

CONSTANTLY!!!!

It's wierd, in my '08 MCS (automatic), if I hit the gas and let off, you could hear the blow off valve.

Few and far between...

Now that the DDM is on the JCW, you hear the blow off valve ALL THE TIME.... whether you want to or not.... windows up, windows down.... there ain't no mistaking it.

In fact, it's so loud, you can hear the flutter you get afterwards. For a while, I thought I had a wierd clunking sound until I realized it was just the fluttering...

I am not technical, just common sense to me; how can any brand of CAI be beneficial? It appears, and this may basic misunderstanding, the various CAI aftermarket equipment all seem to take less advantage of the actual cold air intake built into the JCW. They seem to change to an open filter pulling in air from the engine chamber shortly behind a high heat turbo. Doesn't that mean they are NOT COLD air intakes; they may be less restrictive, louder, elevated engine heat intakes. I have chosen to change the stock air filter to less restrictive foam replacing the paper filter. Frankly, I cannot tell a difference, so maybe this not the way to go either. Can someone technical explain?

Did you lose anything low down?

I wonder how much more power the race intake makes compared to the street one
