JCW Tuning kit?

About to pull the trigger on my custom build and order my new F60. Heavily considering the JCW Tuning package. Has anyone ordered this package from the factory? Thoughts/feedback? Likes? Dislikes? Thx!

I don't think it's available to order from the factory, although you may be able to get port installed. I had mine dealer installed before I picked up the vehicle, well worth it although now I have the stock exhaust sitting in storage. If you get it port installed, you most likely will not get the factory exhaust back. I'm not sure if it's the gearing but with it on the automatic transmission is had a drone at highway speeds, it could also be it just wasn't broken in yet. I returned the automatic for my manual transmission and have not noticed a drone with the manual at all even fresh out of the box.

Thanks @ND40oz. The JCW Tuning Kit is an available $2300 option available when you custom build a new Countryman on miniusa.com. Interesting note on highway drone.

Had that been an option when I custom ordered mine, I would have done it then. I love the JCW Exhaust flap system.

Yeah, they've added several dealer installed options to the configurator that are not factory options and were previously dealer installed, like the side scuttles and mirror caps as well as the JCW Tune. I'm guessing that they're now port installed options since they don't say anything about dealer installation fees like M Performance options are on the BMW side. But you'd have to confirm that with your dealer.

Also, don't forget you need to add the exhaust tips with the JCW kit, so tack on the price of those to the $2300. I didn't want chrome and got the carbon fiber, but you really can't see them unless you get close and look.

Does the tuning kit impact MPGs? I am considering ordering the kit as well as it seems like a good middle ground between the S and the extra $6k for the JCW.

I test drove one last fall and posted video of the exhaust on youtube so people could hear it. I was bummed that the tune was not as aggressive as the tune on the small Minis from watching videos online. I am still considering buying it later this year.

Its the same system on the F60 you will need the tips also. We have it in stock and if you get it afterward, this would be the cost, all linked below. I saw it out at SEMA last year and it looks great.

I am considering pulling the trigger on this. I think a 20hp increase is fine, I am just looking for a more aggressive exhaust note with a factory warranty and a little power bump. How loud is this exhaust and do they disable the piped in sound?

Screw it. I pulled the trigger. Mini of Austin wants $2500 installed. Can't wait.

I will post a good vid once it is installed.

Mini USA website has some sound clips comparing stock vs. upgraded JCW exhaust. They don't disable the sound, but you can code that out yourself.

there was a really good video of a guy with an Island Blue CM with the kit. Exhaust sounds viscous on that car.

Def let us know what you think after the install. My custom F60 will be here in early May. My plan is to let it break in for 6 months and then drop in on this package. Cant wait.

You were told (partially) incorrectly. There isn't a *tune* for the JCW, but the JCW *exhaust* system with the BT flap is available for a stock JCW F60. I got it for my 2018 F60 JCW.

Is it worth it? What does it sound like? Do you have a video clip on the internet somewhere.

Every clip I find had additional mods generating more power and that wonderful racket. I can't find a clip that closely matches what I have. I only have a stock 18 jcw countryman with a donation to elite.

I think it is worth it, but determining if it is worth it or not is very subjective. I like the sound, and the ability to turn it off and on when I want to. I like that it's covered under warranty. I like that compared to other units it has two settings vs six or seven settings. I would have had it installed when I custom ordered it from the factory had that been an option at the time. So for me, it is worth it. Others might not agree. Others might like a unit from a competitor.

Sorry, I don't have a video clip. As soon as I posted up here...way back when I got it installed, I was hit up by numerous Internet trolls looking for me to post documentation, more pics, and sound clips. I didn't and don't have time to collect that stuff and post here or anywhere. They were newb accounts with 0 or 1 posts. It seemed like they'd be using the materials to either create scams or use for cheap knock-offs, and I don't want to be a party to that.

I get everything installed tomorrow. I got the stainless exhaust tips, but the car likely won't be ready until Wednesday since a master tech has to do the tune. I can't wait to have a 3 door as a loaner car for a day too, should be fun

Not my car, but this video gives a great idea of how this will sound, skip to 2:49. I will post my own once it is done. Is there anyone in the Austin area that can code out the fake sound?

Car is in the shop now getting it installed. It won't be ready until Thursday since the master tech is backed up. If it wasn't for the Sharks going to Game 7 tonight, this is what I would be most excited about. I will post on Thursday or Friday with Sound.

The JCW kit got backordered, they are hoping to have it done today and I hope they do because I am counting the seconds until I get to drive it.

So my car is still not ready. The dealer discovered a short in the moon roof, so the car should be ready today. I am glad they found that.

I had the dealer install the kit when I purchased my S. Overall it has been a good kit with a little more aggressive note. With sport mode and the flaps open the decel pop is borderline over the top. The only issue I need to take up with the dealer is the occasional connection issues with the controller button.
