Hate these run flat tires

The wife hit a pothole and sliced the tire down the side. I can stick my finger in where the air use to be. She drove the car home about a mile. Unfortunately we have no spare tire or jack. Called around tire places and one can get us a new one exactly like the ones on the car ($240) Called mini roadside assistance and they could only tow me to the nearest mini dealer. I ask them to tow me to the tire place because the tire is so damaged and nearest dealer is in Charleston a hundred miles away. I don't want to do more damage to the rim. Monday were having AAA tow us to the tire place. I hate not having a spare & jack. I hate these run flat tires. I only have 6k on the car, when I get 40k I'm going to get regular tires and in the meantime I'll be looking to buy a jack and spare. Sorry for venting!

Are you sure you hate the runflats? It sounds like you hate not having a spare, which is independent of the runflats.

Why are you planning to replace them at 40k specifically?

Sorry you had to deal with that! It's a huge PITA finding a tire in stock that fits on MINIs. They seem to pick the most unusual sizes for their tires.
