Wife's nitpicks - any solutions?
I love our new Countryman hybrid, but my wife isn't quite there yet. She has a small list of gripes that I said I'd try to help resolve. Any help with the following would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Sean
- The sunroof shade isn't dark enough for her. She's sensitive to light, and finds it annoying on a sunny days, which we have a lot of in Colorado. Any way to replace the standard shade with one that's completely opaque?
- Any way to turn off the driver's seat belt warning chime, or at least delay it 5-10 seconds so that it doesn't immediately bark at you the instant you turn on the ignition? (I have to admit, I find this annoying too.)
- Any way to remove the rear headrests (at least the center one)? I tried pulling up with the button pressed, but they didn't seem to want to come out. I know they fold down, but it still blocks a lot of her view.
- Any way to make the mirrors fold in automatically every time it's locked? I know you can press and hold the keyless entry lock button to trigger it, but again, it's a minor hassle to have to remember and wait for it.
Thanks,
Sean

1. Get Zippeeshades for the sunroofs: http://zippeeshade.com/buy-here/
2. I think you can completely turn it off through coding - look up Bimmercode app and the OBDII adapter ( ).
3. Not sure about this one.
4. This can be coded too with Bimmercode.

Perforated vinyl on the sunroof glass. You can buy printed versions or just have plain material colored to your liking at a vinyl shop. With the sunshade open you get less light and with the shade closed it becomes a lot darker.
Bimmercode as mentioned above will let you do what you want in addition to things you didn't know you wanted.

I must be the luckiest man alive. My wife doesn't complain about anything. I can buy anything I want and she doesn't even question it. I just placed a build on a 2019 JCW loaded and had to add one last thing that cost about $1,800 and no biggie to her. Thank God for my wife, she is the most amazing women that I have ever known. She had a single sister but she just got married.

Just got my 2019 MCS back in July...didn’t realize bimmercode was so easy to use. I just need the app and an ODBII adapter?
Does using bimmercode void any warranties? Will the dealer service department give me grief if they see coding has been done?
Any info would be appreciated. Thank you.

Yes, its that easy. The app is not free if you want to code. It is free for read only mode.
The dealers in general don't seem to know what coding is, nor how to recognize if it has been done. They commonly write over any coding you do when they flash the ECUs with updates. You will have to re-code your changes in again. I don't believe it voids any warranty.

Coding part
I'm trying to buy the coding part to work with Bimmer Code, they recommend this one:
Buy you guys recommend this one:
Which one is better? They say bluetooth is better then wifi, but some reviews on the top item say it doesn't work with bimmercode even though its recommended and some people say it keeps disconnecting?
Whatever I buy I'd like it to work with other apps if possible for my iphone? There are some apps the monitor car stats like Dash commend? What do you guys think? Or any other apps that you know of that are good to have?
Awaiting replies before I order and thank you!

I just recieved my Veepeak OBDII bluetooth device. It connects easily when you open the app and press connect.
I was able to turn OFF the initial message that wants you to “confirm” on the center instrument cluster on every startup. So I am happy that is gone!
But, the seatbelt warning seems to be an issue. I deactivate it, then it comes back “active” shortly after my test drive.
it’s like the computr resets after so many minutes....
anyone have any suggestions?

There were few different seat belt settings if I recall. I changed the one that alerts you at vehicle startup that the belt isn't buckled, but left the one that alerts you if you unbuckle the belt while driving. So basically I think I disabled "initial warning after start" or something like that.
