What's the deal with the AC in the Countryman?

I don't have the AC button pushed in, I think I'm getting "vent" but it feels like AC sometimes and not other times.

Anyone else experience this? Does the AC turn on if the dial for the temp says 68 when its over that outside just to adjust the temp inside the car even though AC button is not pushed?

I turn it down (the dial for the temp) so I'm not getting heat but I also don't want AC if I don't push AC.

Anyone notice this?

I think if you have the automatic climate control option and you set a desired temperature, the AC/heat will cycle on/off as appropriate to maintain that temp. I believe you can override AC turning on by turning off the AC using it's separate button.

I'm with you however

The AC button is not checked in other words there is no green light for the AC on that button but I still feel like the AC is working sometimes and other times not.

Am I missing something with the climate control that is causing this to happen?

I think with the auto climate control, it will run the heat/AC as needed to achieve the set temperature. I am pretty sure that is is running sometimes even if the button is not illuminated. If you don’t want it to run, either turn the auto function off, or set the temp to something close to ambient.

Well its weird

If I turn on the car I hear what sounds like the compressor running in the front while sitting in the car in the garage.

If I push Auto on the climate then the AC button lights up and it still sounds the same. If I turn off the AC still hear the same sound.

So I turned up the fan and turned down the temp to 60 from 68. Then I pushed the AC button and it sounded like the compressor in the front was running faster.

I waited a bit and then turned off the AC button, sounded like it faded away.

Does the AC run anyway to cool the battery in the plug in version perhaps?
