Exterior Door handle question
Well I hate my first post to this forum be asking about a potential issue, but here goes! Just got a 2019 Countryman S AWD, amazing car for us, first new car in 8 years so I'm excited by all the new technology. We had a 2005 Mini Cooper base with an ailing transmission, so we decided to use that as an excuse to finally part ways and upgrade to the new Mini.
So my door handle question, wondering if this is something others have noticed and if it's an issue, a search did not pull up info I'm looking for. My 8 year old daughter sits behind the passenger side and several times when I unlocked the car she was stuck outside unable to open the door. When I went around the door was unlocked, and the handle would pull back fine, but not open the door. If I were to lock and unlock the door, waiting for the latch to rise, it opens fine.
I tried locking the car, pulling the handle out before unlocking to replicate her probably pulling on the handle too soon and too many times before the rear doors were unlocked. This would cause the same issue, door would not open. I tried this test on all the other doors, and the only one that would show the potential problem was hers. Thoughts? Looking forward to reading through this forum more in depth!

I think from your description is enough to bring the car back to dealership for them to figure out why! Since you’re able to separate out the specific door that has the issue vs. all the doors, which then might be design issue for the central lock system. Just go in and replicate for them, i’m sure they’ll know more! Since it’s under warranty you really have nothing to worry about just by bringing the car in!

Right, the only inconvenience is we've moved since are original purchase so the the dealership is not as close, also we did not go through the local dealership for this car. A family member had a connection with a dealership several states away so it made sense to buy through them and have it transported to us. But I'll definitely call my local service center this week and see what they say about it.
