Reverse mirror

Is it possible to stop the passenger side mirror from "looking" down in reverse?

This is controlled by the mirror selection button just above the window switches on the driver's door. Slide the mirror selection to the left to disable the automatic down pivot of the passenger mirror when in reverse. Slide it to the right (passenger's side) to re-enable the feature.

Ooops! I had the switch positions reversed. BossHoss had them correct of course since he is showing the manual pages. In my defense, note the Activating and Deactivating show the slide switch in the same position.

MIND BLOWN! I have HATED that they tilt down when I reverse. Annoyed the heck out of me. Thank you for posting this. Had no idea it was able to be turned on/off!

I was really excited about this feature because it works great on some other cars. In my opinion it tilts way too far on the Countryman to the point of not being useful. I have tried to play with adjusting the normal height of the mirror in case it only rotated a certain amount of degrees, but no luck. It seems it rotates down to the same location each time. Bummer.

it can be coded to tilt less, much better once done. Carly for sure, most likely Bimmercode also

I hadn't been a great fan of the tilt on the right mirror until I realized that I could use it to help protect my rims from curb rash if/when I misjudge where the curb is while parallel parking on the right side of the street. Bimmercode has a setting for "Mirror tilt value on reverse," which I used to decrease the amount of tilt (though it's not infinitely variable).

I haven't tried in on my MINI since I don't use it, but in my other car with this feature, while it's titled down I can adjust the mirror to the location I want and then it will remember that setting and use it in the future when it tilts down. It's worth a try.

Is this standard on Minis or is it part of an option pack? When I picked up my F56 the tech told me about it but my mirror isn't tilting down when I put the car in reverse, regardless of which side the selector is set to. Just wondering if maybe this feature wasn't actually included on my model.

Hmmm.... it may be that the tilt only works if you have the power mirror folding option (which I have). If that option was included in your car, then something is definitely wrong. Check with your tech.

I don't, which probably explains it. The tech was probably just wrong about the option being in the car when showing us everything.

My dealer told me it is only active if you have the cold weather package option.
FYI, that option consists of heated seats and heated mirrors which my 2018 Countryman has BUT
they were ordered as individual option and that don't cut it, so no automating mirror tilting for me....

Looks like in the 2019s the heated seats and mirrors come standard with the signature trim that I got, but the electric mirrors are part of the premium package which I passed on, so no auto-tilt. (Not that its something I really cared about)

It funny to see some folks not liking this feature. I for one, wish that my R60 had this. The loaner that Seattle MINI gave me last time had this feature, and I thought it was the bees knees, lol. It just seems like such a handy, useful feature that I would love to have, lol. I wonder if it can be coded to work on a ‘12 R60? I have the power folding mirrors and heated seats. That would be sweet

When I took my test drive I thought it was neat. In daily driving, I don't use it at all. I think it's only good for parking next to curbs, which I rarely do.

It is standard on my other BMW vehicle so I suspect it is standard on any BMW vehicle with powered remote mirrors. .

I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get it working on my '19, didn't realize you needed the power folding mirrors for it. Guess I'll park on the other side of the street where I don't have to hug the curb.

In my car (F60, North American), the selector switch must be to the LEFT (driver's side) for the reverse pivot to work. It will NOT work if switched to the passenger side. Also, I like this feature.
