This is controlled by the mirror selection button just above the window switches on the driver's door. Slide the mirror selection to the left to disable the automatic down pivot of the passenger mirror when in reverse. Slide it to the right (passenger's side) to re-enable the feature.

I was really excited about this feature because it works great on some other cars. In my opinion it tilts way too far on the Countryman to the point of not being useful. I have tried to play with adjusting the normal height of the mirror in case it only rotated a certain amount of degrees, but no luck. It seems it rotates down to the same location each time. Bummer.

I hadn't been a great fan of the tilt on the right mirror until I realized that I could use it to help protect my rims from curb rash if/when I misjudge where the curb is while parallel parking on the right side of the street. Bimmercode has a setting for "Mirror tilt value on reverse," which I used to decrease the amount of tilt (though it's not infinitely variable).

Is this standard on Minis or is it part of an option pack? When I picked up my F56 the tech told me about it but my mirror isn't tilting down when I put the car in reverse, regardless of which side the selector is set to. Just wondering if maybe this feature wasn't actually included on my model.

I don't, which probably explains it. The tech was probably just wrong about the option being in the car when showing us everything.

It funny to see some folks not liking this feature. I for one, wish that my R60 had this. The loaner that Seattle MINI gave me last time had this feature, and I thought it was the bees knees, lol. It just seems like such a handy, useful feature that I would love to have, lol. I wonder if it can be coded to work on a ‘12 R60? I have the power folding mirrors and heated seats. That would be sweet

I was trying to figure out why I couldn't get it working on my '19, didn't realize you needed the power folding mirrors for it. Guess I'll park on the other side of the street where I don't have to hug the curb.
