Never seen this before ...

I finally had the chance to get on the road a bit and shot up to see some friends I haven't see for a while. During the 600 miles run, I usually don't notice but did this time where it tells you what gear you should be in or to shift up or down. While somewhat getting it on entering the on ramp, the indicator would say something like 4th gear and I should be going to 3rd gear ??? while I was excelerating ? Sometime I'll be in 3rd and excelerating and it says to go to 2nd and so on.

Anyone else seen this on their car or have this problem ?

Yea, my co-pilot's '15 CM has the auto gear box with steptronic which I often shift in to on the rare occasions I have to drive it. It does make recommendations on what gear I should be in. Driving Brit sports cars since '66 I find it amusing some computer telling me when to shift.

But when your accelerating to get on the highway running at high speed, and it's telling you to go to a lower gear ? .. and you are almost at the high end of the gear your in ??? It should have been telling my to get in the next higher gear, not the lower gear.

Situational awareness has never been a computer's strong suit. I encountered a similar readout on the aforementioned CM and just did what I wanted to do in spite. The growing trend towards computerized driving management concerns me that people will begin to abrogate their responsibility leading to total failure and the resulting property and personal loss when (not if) a component of the computer fails.

My thoughts are flowing about the same. I happen to notice this for some reason. I drive by the feel .. not the computer.

I figure if I need to drive by computer, I'd get an auto self driving vehicle. Then it's more like being in a taxi .. but I don't tip myself.
