Deeply Discounted Brand New 2017, normally discounted 2018, or deeply discounted X1?

Would like to get some advices on purchasing a new Mini Countryman.

Dealer still have some brand new 2017 Mini Countryman on their lot and is discounting them for $5,000 off MSRP with possibly some more wiggling room.

Is this considered a good deal? Or should I go with 2018 inventory where only $2,500 off MSRP is offered?

Finally, since we already have a 2013 Mini Countryman ALL4 S, wife wants something different and is looking at BMW X1 given the deep discount available on those $6,000+ off MSRP on any 2018 stock.

Your kindly suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks...

I'd want more off on a 2017, as 2019's are now on the lots. I'd want the $5000 off the 2018.

Guess I’m a pushover. I’d cheerfully take $5k off a model year leftover. That’s more or less what I did for my F55 that had sat unsold on the lot for 15 months or so.

A great deal is in the eye of the beholder :-)

My wife was looking at the same options x1 or countryman. We ended up going with a 2018 countryman as mini is offering 1.9% on 2018 models. You will get a deeper discount on the bmw but if you plan to finance the interest rate will be higher (I believe 4.9 through bmw financial). Either way my wife ended up preferring the countryman as it felt more substantial to her.

No real difference between 2018 and 2017 Countryman so if options are equal, $5000 off a 2017 is a great deal.

The X1, while based on the same platform and is a similar car, drives very different than the Countryman. It will be more luxurious and smooth, while the Countryman retains that MINI sportiness, despite the lower HP. I find the X1 interior to be pretty boring also. That being said, the X1 does offer some more advanced features compared to the 17 and 18 Countryman such as telematics, available remote services, and a HUD that projects onto the windshield instead of a pop-up from the dash.

I suppose it also depends on your location. I ordered my 2018 JCW, built to my spec (and pretty much fully loaded), in October 2017. It was delivered mid-December in the L.A. area. My cost was MSRP minus 7% (about $3500). Keeping in mind that this was a brand new, factory ordered car, I would tend to agree with Minnie.the.Moocher's thinking.

I am in NorCal and sure can consider to order one from SoCal with the right incentives (e.g. $3500 off MSRP on an order).

Would you mind PM me which dealer/SA did you go with for this deal, and maybe even some proof or help in doing the same? Hopefully this would not be too much to ask.

I got my Countryman for $35k when it MSRP’s for $43k. If you push hard enough and use a discount like USAA or SCCA, you should get a good starting point.

deal

Yes, what BTdubs said. Great plan, worked out for us with our 2017 last year.
I can't believe its coming up on a year old. Time flies. USAA & Costco discount thrown in for fun.
Car has been great. That thing eats up the miles,

I ordered a 2021 Countryman S and got 6% off MSRP + additional $1,000 USAA discount. The dealer tries to make a lot of it by adding & raising fees on the back end.

Was your 2017 bought new or used? I know you can use coding software to set the auto start/stop in that manner, didn't think it was a stock feature at all...

Sorry, posted in wrong thread but to answer your question I got the car brand new. Auto Start/Stop setting was saved with key memory.

My mini connected app have some limited options, I wish they have more functions like,

-Remote App Start/Stop with HVAC controls
-Heated Steering Wheel
those two are a god send for cold winter and hot summer days.

From my subie. Remote auto start/stop with full hvac controls.
Imo the interface seems dated, but all you need is there at your fingertips.
