All Mini keys are huge! Especially next to a regular key! And if you're like me and own two Mini's, there is no easy way to have both on 1 key chain... At least the new ones allow you to remove some of the bulk of the key now...

Quite true! But feedback from the customer is good (I wrote down all my "complaints" when I got my survey)...

The beeping is SUPER loud! and piercing... I like having the beep myself, but coded mine to lower the sound it makes, cause if you unlock or lock your car in say a garage of some sort, it is really loud and high pitched!

Some are package dependent... But yes, definitely check all the settings first!

Are they much bigger than an R series key? This is my first Mini, and all of the demos etc I drove, didn't pay too much attention tbh.

I agree, although not good enough for BMW to make the changes yet...

Forgot to ask, do the F60s have any issues with door seals rubbing on the paint? Thought I saw one at the launch with clear vinyl on the door jam of the rear doors, but I maybe just imagined that.

No clue there... But now that the keys aren't used to dock into a key slot anymore, you can just keep the keys in your pocket or whatever (especially when test driving), so it's not something that you'd necessarily pay attention to (until you bought it)...

No, but hopefully down the road... And some of the issues can be fixed with a software update (not that they'd actually do that, but it is possible)...

Not that I know of... I know Mini's had an option to put vinyl on the little ledge on the back to protect it from putting stuff in and out of the boot, but I haven't seen or heard of anything with the rear doors... Not to say that it couldn't be added (not sure if getting in and out of the back seat would rub against the jamb, I think I have only done it like twice)...

In terms of issues being addressed, the only gripe that seems to have been changed on the F56 is the fuel gauge, and that was rolled out before the LCI was unveiled a few weeks ago. I've only briefly driven an F60 and can't remember what the gauge looked like sorry.

The issue with the paint is the actual rubber door seal is quite rough and was rubbing the paint through to the primer. I caught mine before it wore right through, and have the BMW pre-cut vinyl in place.

For what it's worth, I'd love an F60 but it's beyond my budget just now, so I'll either continue with the Cooper or go back to an older car for a while until the smaller version appears in 2020.....

I absolutely hate the frontshield heater. I see the lines in them. Nights it reflects the lights of the cars way more to the wires around.
During the day my opinion is i see less sharp. I am thinking of exchanging it at one time for a non heated window. Also when heating is on, you see this desert like far away heat in the air moving and making everything woosy.. Only good thing is when it has frozen, but to the dislikes are more then the positives.

. Having dealt with these on Land Rovers for years, you might get used to it. I haven’t encountered the ‘Desert’ air heat distortion, but I’ve seen the grids long enough that I see past the wires in the glass unless I focus particularly on them in the windshield while driving. If you change out your windshield, you should be able to sell the original heated version since they are often costing a premium over a standard windshield and someone who’s trying to save money on replacing theirs will gladly pay if that feature is important to them on their car and you’re selling at a discount compared to a new glass.

I think it's already been posted here, but man do I hate the H/K stereo! What a waste of money! With the expensive option you would think you could control the treble, bass and mids. It's just so damn generic. The only way to actually hear the bass is when it's turned up pretty loud. Which is fine when I'm alone, but with the family in the car I can't do that.

Even though I was skeptical on the BAVSound aftermarket upgrades, I got an awesome deal that I couldn't say no to. I pulled the trigger and installed it. If you have a discerning ear, it is a major upgrade that is well worth it. It cleans up the muddy factory sound. I'm very happy with my stealth upgrade to the factory HK system.

They ran $75 off $350 and $150 off $800 coupon codes during December.

Currently, when you leave their site you’ll get a pop up to enter your email for a free ground shipping code. A couple days later, they should email you with a $50 off $400 code.

They have subs too, they call them "Ghost" under seat subs. I got my whole HK system upgraded through them. Worked with Jason directly.

Install takes some time, for sure. With a full-time job and a family, I was only able to do one door per day and the subs over a weekend spread out over a couple of weeks. Not ideal, but they're all broken-in now and rocking all my music styles.

So I'm almost 300 miles into my 2018 F60, the seond MINI in the family next to my 2004 R53 track car.

Here's the q&a I've shared with my MINI "expert" for our "second date".

1- Can I turn on the rear camera? I'd like to, without lighting up the reverse lights, get a 30-second via behind me at times.
o The only way to turn on the backup cameras is by shifting into reverse.
If you have the driving assistant package then you have the ability to
turn on the sensors at will but not the camera.

2- Profiles; can I set them for me based on "my" key and the "other key"?
o Yes you can and it does this automatically. So unlock the car with the
key you would like to set up, change your settings and then you are
done.

3- I'd like to make 100% sure I can play music from iPhone #1 via USB
and have Voice Command for iPhone #2 via Bluetooth.
o This one can be a little tricky to explain so we can go over this during
the appointment.

4- On the speedometer gauge display (DCC?), I'd like to see average MPG and current MPG at the same time
o There is no way to see those figures at the same time, but pressing the
“BC” button at the end of your blinker should give you easy access to
those figures.

5- When playing audio via Bluetooth from an iPhone's iTunes, I'd like to see the album cover/art
o That album art is dependent on what information the phone sends to
the car. Plugging the phone into the USB port will give you that album
artwork

6- Once out of reverse (park, drive, etc.) is like the camera off immediately, not 10 seconds or so later.
o The camera is designed to stay on for a few seconds after in park or
when up to speed in drive. Unfortunately there is no way to adjust this.

7- Is there a way to sync driver & passenger temperature for when I’m driving alone?
o And again unfortunately not. you do need to do both manually

8- I want the all doors to unlock when I put the car in Park. If not
possible, how about when I shut the car off? If not possible, how
about when I open the driver's door the rest unlock?
o So it depends on specific programming of your MINI but the best way
to check what your MINI can and cannot do in that regard is to go to
settings, doors/key and then scroll down and read boxes that you can
check off

9- Does the BMW "trick" remote start work? Start the car with key
inside, remove key, close doors, lock vehicle and it stays running for
10 minutes?
o yes that does work but the car will honk at you every now and then to
let you know that it is still on

10- I'd like to shut off the "fake" engine noise, please. It' goes
away in GREEN mode (ironic). I'd like to cut it off in all driving
modes.
o I wish we could turn that off but there is no way to do so

11- Can I keep the headlight surround LED's as driving lights and turn
off the under-bumper ones?
o no they are both considered daytime running lights by the car

12- Can I turn off the cute "MINI" puddle light on the driver door?
o I believe (I haven’t actually tried it) that those lights are linked to the
"welcome lights" and can be turned off in the settings under lighting

13- How do I turn off the automatic wiper?
o you just move the wiper stock down until the green light under where it
says "Auto" turns off

Thanks for your detailed post.

As I'm sure others will verify, it is indeed possible to turn off the "fake" engine noise (it's called 'Active Sound Design')... I've done so on my own 2018 (and so have others) by coding it off in the vehicle's computer using the Bimmercode App on my iPad with the app's appropriate OBD hardware interface. There are other solutions out there, including a hardware bypass dedicated to turning off ASD (without re-coding the computer) that is installed directly on the sound system amplifier... but that requires a bit of interior panel disassembly to get to the amplifier, which I wasn't interested in doing myself right now.

I hate this connection sharp edge on the middle of this wheel. Hate it. Can’t understand why they don’t polish it down. Older F56 had it also.
Nobody else annoyed by this?

So I checked out the 'edge' on the rotary wheel, and much to my surprise, it doesn't really bother me. I guess I'm not as picky as I used to be. I must surely be getting old.

Take you wife's emery board/ nail file along the edge of the rotary button, or put the small grind wheel on your Dremel tool. That's a easy fix. ( Be Careful or you will take a chunk out of the small 'button' )

It's standard...in Europe.

I would not mind having it too, just to fill the space.

My thoughts too. Looking at the inside panel of the gate got me curious as to why there's a purposely built receptacle there with nothing in it.
