You can code out bulb monitoring for pretty much any bulb on the car allowing the use of led's without resistors. You can use ESYS, bimmercode, or also carly for bmw.

Our car does not have the LED package (please don't throw the stones so hard!) and I've been researching extensively on options for the headlights and foglights and rear lights. At the moment, HID's are too much hassle so it's either getting "whiter" halogens or using one of those newer all-in-one LED plug and play bulbs that are getting so popular ().
Once I'm done figuring that out I'll move on to the taillights and see if I can get them in LED too - will update when I get to it!

All my front are LED using the BimmerCode App.
But the only thing I could get LED in the rear so far are the backup's. Yes, get the CanBus versions LED lights and with the app, it's easy. If anyone gets the rest of the rear lights to work, please let me know.
Note: There has been an update on the BimmerCode program but I haven't tried again yet.

I DO NOT have any resistors installed. Pulled the original H7's .. plugged in the new LED H7's and used the BimmerCode App .. running them ever since without warnings on dash.
For each light there is a warm monitoring and cold monitoring that needs to be shut off and change the lights from stock to LED.
That's all I did.
Opps: sorry I have no fog lights at this time

i have changed my front turn signals, side markers, and reverse lights all to led.
BMWs always flash for a few seconds when first starting the car when changing to led. (this was before i found out about bimmercode)
i had put resistors on the side markers to stop hyper flashing turn signals, and that was good enough that the front turn signals didnt need them as well. i have since gotten bimmercode and stopped the flashing when first turning on the car by disabling warm and cold check. i still havent removed the resistors up front to see if bimmercode fixed that as well, just cuz im lazy lol.
reverse lights make a huge difference, and i absolutely love the white turn signals up front.
i never got around to putting leds in the side brake lights or running lights tho. again, just cuz im lazy....
as far as headlights and fog lights tho, mine came with leds for both so i have no info on that....

Doing led in the headlights shouldn’t be an issue, I do them all the time in bmws. But you will get the few flashes when turning on the car if you don’t code it. However, I would strongly suggest getting a good set, not just the cheapest ones. I use heise regularly and very rarely have any issues.

I am still looking at the CougarMotor LED all in one conversion kit for my 2016, jungle green Countryman S.
Has no one tried these? https://www.amazon.com/CougarMotor-H...=vglnkc6797-20

After extensive research and help from AnOldBiker, I ended up getting these which is more or less the same product from I can see:
I chose to go with the mini fan version as the unit is smaller than the others ones on the market - when I purchased it a month or so ago I couldn't find any other sellers offering this variant. Without seeing the others and just going by the pictures and reviews I have to assume they are all very similar (OEM from some factory) and just have different variations in aesthetics and perhaps quality. I chose this because the mini fan version does not have another unit attached to it - eg it's just the headlight, cord and then it connects to your car. The non mini versions usually is the headlight, cord, another box, and then connects to your car. It really runs hot so I wanted there to be less components sitting in the space between the fender and the light. As AnOldBiker had mentioned, the opening is somewhat small for larger hands so using the mini fan version may help with that. Although, I don't suspect I would've had any issues with the normal size one either but just my 2 cents.
To date it's worked fantastic. I did get Bimmercode and the OBD wifi plug in to turn off cold/warm monitoring so that it wouldn't flicker and/or show error messages. All in all it's quick a quick process as it's straightforward to access the light install area on the countryman (2 covers you remove by turning, no tools. You can see the diagram in your owners manual somewhere in the 220 page range). All said and done I probably spent under $150 (lights, bimmercode, and wifi obd) and about an hour or so to get it all done.
I also changed the parking lights, DRL and foglights to LED to give it a complete look. Maybe another $50-60 for those.
